Title: Music That Moves You
Post by: Weltfrieden on February 18, 2013, 10:31:33 PM
This thread is only for songs that have moved you emotionally or inspired you in some way.

Whenever I think my faith in humanity is gone I sit back, listen to this song and suddenly my faith is restored.

This next one is pretty self-explanatory.

George Thorogood and the Destroyers move me.

Whenever some starts playing them, I get up and walk away.

Beethoven's piano sonatas, becuase it was the music that we used to put on when my brother was very ill to encourage him to go to sleep. I think we had the album by
Vladimir Ashkenazy but I'm not sure, I just have them on my ipad now.

I listen to them every day when im working, and they make me sad yet happy.

I can't link becuase I'm on an iPad :(

Yeah, I can listen to classical and get feeling good, Pachabels 9th in D minor, but mostly I listen to what they call "smooth jazz", keeps me in the mood.

Metallica's "Blackened" talks about how we are destroying the planet. And "And Justice For All" talks about how our justice system is lopsided to those with money and how it is not about facts but winning.

"Hell Is For Children" by Pat Benatar was one of the first hard rock songs if not the first to address child abuse.

But to a lesser extent:

Must resist ABBA MUST RESIST POSTING ABBA...............CANT HELP IT!

I know they don't have the deepest topics. But as I may have mentioned when I re connected with them as a fan, I look back at a couple of songs that got me, without even realizing it(because I wasn't listing to them at the time) got me through my divorce.

"Knowing Me Knowing You" and "The Winner Takes It All". I think too many breakups end up bitter and hateful. These songs long before I met my wife made me aware that things don't always work out. It made me even without knowing it, handle her leaving me without bitterness or hate.

Nothing stirs up the emotions like it. That's why the love placing it in movie scenes where an impossible battle is about to occur. In fact O Fortuna (the part everyone is familiar with) is about having the odds stacked against you.

This is a long that I found particularly uplifting whenever I was trying to get over someone....

Also I don't think you can ever go wrong with a bit of downright blasphemy... (Skip to 1 minute 9 seconds for the song beginning)

Not going to post anything, pointless because I have said it in other threads.
