Title: Latest look in the mirror ...
Post by: Baruch on July 10, 2019, 07:31:33 AM
Wanted to revisit this for Unbeliever ...

This is you.  And you aren't harmless.

1. Consistent egotism ... yes, I am a demi-god and so are you.  Not better than others, simply unequal, because ... we are unequal.

2. Behavioral chaos ... follows impulse and instincts ... that is how I post.

3. Insincerity ... but I am very sincere in my postings (aside from jokes and satire).

4. Parasitic lifestyle ... I worked as a government contractor for 32 years.  But I also give to others.

5. Disgust threshold ... I don't like horror movies.  But I enjoy war games.

6. Don't like looking people in the eyes.

7. I don't enjoy being around upset people.  Don't usually want to be involved in other people's problems.

Moral .. no two psychopaths are alike ;-9

Nah, I'm only a 64th god - a hemidemisemigod.

The craziest people are the ones who don't think they are ;-)

And the sane people are able to evaluate their sanity when they are informed of the characteristics of insanity.

More like buddhist masters.  Takes one to know one.  If you think you are one, and you are not, then you are deluded.  So sane people know sane people, but self examination is ... marginal.

You lost me at "1".  I am; you're not...

"I am" in Johannine Gospel, claiming to be G-d, not demi-god.

Have you really contemplated "demi-god"?  How could there be half of omnipotence?

More literalism.  Metaphor, simile etc don't exist.  Nuance is ... nonexistent.

Yes, it has taken me 60+ years to understand this concept.  And that puts the kibosh on atheism for me.

Actually, I've always thought that you were "not an atheist" only because you couldn't truly imagine the universe existing without you in it.

If you can imagine the universe, without yourself, then you are psycho.  That is a self contradictory (literally) position.  And this isn't a half-full/half-empty choice.  Basically it is a transcendent claim, not immanent.

I can imagine a universe with no humans.  How is that a good thing?  How is that different than imagining that there are unicorns in it.

I imagine my death after life as "a book half read" or something like that.  You really CAN'T conceive of true death, can you?  I have no problem with it.  Its like you were a swatted fly or stomped ant.  Nothing, no future thoughts, no "somewhere to exist afterwards", "a cessation of existence", "you aren't around anymore", etc....

You really don't get it, do you?

And all of that is dream material, waking dreams.  You have no empirical first person experience of death.  Sleeping isn't being dead.  An example of extraordinary claims (what is death like) requires extraordinary evidence.  Die and b resurrected, no NDE counts.  Which y'all claim to be irrelevant or stupid.  I deny all Platonic claims, all "transcendent narrator" claims.  I do have the imagination for it ... what would it be like if I were G-d.  But that is just fiction/art to me.  Demonstrated this in my "Ode to Bacchus" that I posted awhile back.  I know what being a demi-god is like, because that is my actual experience and how I see the experience of other people (they are like me, or are they not?).  They can label it as "unicorns" if they want, that is the semantics.  I have matured enough to decide for myself, what words mean.  That is necessarily subjective of course.  But there is mature subjectivity, and immature subjectivity.

Nope, you can't imagine it.  Few can.  Some atheists can.

I am reminded of the trainstation master in a small town of whom a dissatisfied customer demanded to speak to his "superior".  He handed her his card.  It read "Mayor, Chief Of Police, Stationmaster, Judge, and Fire Marshall".  He said "Ma'am I have no superiors and damned few equals".

Autobiography?  Or Trainbiography?  Alexander has nothing on you.

Oh right.  Him...

Well, I'm sure there have been a FEW other Alexanders.    Not like he was a one-name wonder.  Oh wait... Well not like "Cher" anyway.
