Whut?

George Bush viewed favorably?
I don't get it. I don't get it.  I do Not get it.

QuoteFor the first time since 2005, more Americans now view former President George W. Bush favorably than unfavorably, according to a Gallup poll released Tuesday.

Forty-nine percent have a favorable view of Bush, while 46 percent view him unfavorably, the poll found. His ratings have risen by more than 10 points among both parties since he left office, with 84 percent of Republicans and 24 percent of Democrats now rating him favorably.

At Bush's lowest point, in 2008, just 32 percent of Americans rated him positively, according to Gallup. Like most recent presidents, however, he saw his numbers rise after leaving the White House......

Doesn't mean anything other than people are getting dumber and dumber, Hitler had the highest numbers after he was elected than any politician. He also had the most votes than any Politician when he got elected. But I'm with you---What! You have got to be kidding? Have you ever noticed that crooks and tyrants always have the most friends? Machiavelli was correct, as Bush and his cronies knew full well. People love good liars, they hate the truth. Solitary

but but........  Hitler wouldn't get HIGH ratings LATER  (?)
*shakes head*

After all Bush's bullshit come to light - HOW ON EARTH could he EVER be viewed favorably - even by his own party?

Seriously.  Bush?

What?  The?  Fuck?  Could'a knocked me over with a feather when I read the article on AOL.   Good grief.  Bush?
That's like Bernie Madoff getting a favorable rating 5 years later.     Must be that christian forgiveness thang I do not prescribe to.

With Obama's job performance its not so hard to imagine looking upon the Bush II era as the good old days. I had pretty high expectations for Obama and he just flatlined on almost everything I cared about. Guantanamo Bay is still fully operational, we are still fighting a war in Afghanistan, his administration is as opaque as an administration has ever been, theres still like 20 million people in prison for possessing a certain kind of leaf, big brother became an unmitigated reality under his watch, he passed a half baked health care bill which is scheduled to start going into full swing this year and which looks to be so large a disaster that major insurers have completely bailed from the plan, and perhaps worst of all he blew a trillion dollars of our money on an economic recovery that has yet to really happen.

Bush? Yeah he was stupid and I hated the leader of our country being a complete flunk of a public speaker. Nobody likes to see the leader of their country seriously saying things like "misunderestimate" and "axis of evil". Nobody likes to see the leader of their country be unable to recall "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me". There was a major security breach under his watch that resulted in the worst terrorist attack in US history by a long shot, and of course he passed the patriot act and got us into wars we really could have done without.

In my opinion, while very bad, none of those things were a death knell for the country the way the financial and social blunders of the Obama administration have been. Bush fucked up and was totally unsuited for the presidency. Obama knows exactly what he is doing and doesn't seem to care. Its no wonder Bush is becoming more favorably viewed.

PS I agree about Obama, but I'm not surprised because I believe we have an oligarchy, and not a country Of the People, For the People, and By the People, But one for the super rich and powerful. Anytime something seems dumb as hell that the government does it involves money. Eisenhower was right in his farewell speech. Bill

And not just the wars themselves, but how we got there was pretty bad.  And then there was stem cells, Kyoto Protocol (to the point of suppressing the word "global warming"), faith-based initiatives, endorsement of creationism/ID, greatly increased use of "free speech zones", endorsement for ANWR drilling, and torture.  And as far as economics go,  there's the surplus to deficit disaster (and the beginnings of the 2008 economic crisis) under Bush's watch.  Plenty of stuff that goes well beyond just being an idiot and bad public speakering guy.

This..  Also let's not forget that the laws and the "secret courts with secret evidence and secret rulings" that allow the NSA to spy on everybody were all passed and established during the Bush administration. 2002-2006.
The stimulus bill was pretty much crippled in the house along with the healthcare bill. The republicans seem to prefer the country to fail rather than see Obama succeed. That said I can't think of any of Bushes policies that Obama has reversed (for a minute I was thinking torture but look what they have done to Bradly Manning). All we have in Obama is Bush Lite. Would Romney have been any better? Come meet the new boss, same as the old boss I pick up my guitar and play just like yesterday still I get on my knees and pray We won't be fooled again!

He did start troop pullouts in Iraq and Afghanistan and reversed the Mexico City Policy (//http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico_City_Policy) and lifted W era restrictions on stem cell research.

However, he has failed to shut down Gitmo (despite a campaign pledge to do so) but at least dropped the term "enemy combatant", and has continued the Patriot Act.

His presidency so far has been sort of a mix between Bush and more moderate Republican positions.

Not really.  The Nazis never got more than 33% of the vote in a free election.  Once they gained a foot-hold in the parliament, they bullied the aging President von Hindenburg into appointing Hitler Chancellor (he was appointed, not elected).  After that, of course, Hitler did very well in elections, since they were completely rigged.

I dunno guys. Obama has fucked up pretty badly. At this point if i were given a redo on the 2008 election under the condition that some random citizen was selected to be president I might go for it. I figure ive got a 30% or so chance of getting someone who cares, isnt insane, and isnt easily corrupted.

I think it's worse than just a chilling disregard for the poor.  It's a chilling disregard for the law.  He seems to consider the poor (which, to him, seems to mean anyone not super wealthy) just more of his personal property, to be used for best profit.

I recently started a part-time job where I have the extreme displeasure of waiting hand-and-foot to the upper crust and super privileged.   Let me tell you what............  the super rich are just socially inept retards who think the world revolves around them.  The ONLY entertainment they provide is when they struggle for the lime-light and precious attention against one another.   Other than watching them try to One-Up each other in the quest of who is more special and uber elite than whom       ---- we could steal their money, pile them up and set them on fire for all I care.

If I'm ever near Romney in person I might just reach out and smack the shit out of his face.........  I am talking Open Palmed fucking smack him hard.  Only because he is a beacon, a model, a symbol of ALL of them in my opinion.

what a douche

Obama might not be turning out exactly as I'd hoped.   But (1) he's human - so I'm gonna give him an atta boy for just being a human being and (2) I seriously believe he is a good man - in his heart where it counts.  I think his entire presidency has been done with both his hands tied behind his back and his accomplishments - to date - are incredible considering the mountain of shit he swims against every single day he opens his eyes.

No..... Obama has proven Far from perfect.  Does anyone really THINK for one min that he was going to BE ABLE to really get things done?  And is HE - personally - to fault for what's not been done?  The man climbed willingly into a sea of corruption and backstabbing nonsense............   what did you really expect?

Fuck.  He gets Kudos from me just for showing up every day --- day in and day out.

I expected him to warm the seat for 4 years, stave off a wingnut takeover, and push forward something of a centre-right agenda.  I was pleasantly surprised when he got elected for a 2nd term, sending the religious reich reeling.   :-D

Oh he sure has gotten some wonderful things done though. He managed to get 1984 enshrined as an instruction manual. He passed a horrifying mess of a health care plan that you guys just have no idea how fucking horrible it is going to fuck us all up. I happen to know because I have a health insurance professional as a family member. He blew a trillion dollars on an economic recovery we have been holding our breath waiting for 6 years. He permitted the utter annihilation through physical violence of the OWS movement, a group of people who had the audacity to be upset that their financial future had been flushed down the toilet for the sake of maintaining the exorbitant salaries of the executives who willfully crashed our economy in the first place. He sat back and allowed his administration to wage social and legal warfare on wikileaks because it had the audacity to reveal to the world some damning private information from within the federal government. He pretended that he fulfilled a campaign promise in removing our forces from Iraq, but downplayed the fact that those forces didn't return home but instead surged into Afghanistan where they remain to this day.

So you suspect Romney didn't like poor people. What exactly has Obama done for them during his time in office? So you think Romney would have degraded the separation of church an state. What radical new advances in securing that line has Obama enacted? Where is he on gay marriage? Stuck in neutral. Where is he on abortion rights? Oh all for them except we cant fund them federally and he won't lift a goddamn finger to oppose the rape sanctioning state laws that impede a woman's right to reproductive health care. In the meantime his administration is going into fucking overdrive to arrest and prosecute state legal medical marijuana users in California while doing nothing at all to free the millions of people incarcerated for being caught holding the wrong kind of dried leaves. Wow what an effective use of our tax dollars.

The man is a fuck up from start to finish and the worst part of it is that a lot of it isn't just bumbling, its intentional.
