Those of us who are American don't have a lot to be proud of on the international stage. I mean, aside from landing on the moon, owning half the world, and having military bases on the other half, what do we have to be proud of?
Fret not America! We are getting up in the beer game. Those sneaky Germans and Irish thought they could hide the secret of mixing a few basic ingredients with yeast from us? Foolish! While our macro breweries pumped out cheap, horrible beer to keep the world drunk, we have been secretly concocting alcoholic elixirs worthy of kings in our basement laboratories!
BEHOLD! THE BEERS OF ATLANTA (and the surrounding metropolitan area)!

Sweetwater IPA
A bottle of this will leave you convinced that those limies in India died for no reason.

Laughing Skull Amber Ale
The perfect beer for a "I'm not as think as you drunk I am officer" moment.

Jailhouse Brewing Breakout Stout
A meal in a bottle. It will leave you full, and make you fat.
That's just a taste of Atlanta area beers, but I'm pretty sure the rest of you have regional beer designed to make America drunk again. I implore you, fellow Americans, to release your drunken secrets.

You're focused on the macro. Get out and find the regional beer.

Here are a couple of my favorites. I don't really like beer... more of a liquor guy, but man I love my stouts.
Stout is love, stout is life. My favorite stout at the moment is from Left Hand brewing co out in Colorado. It's a milk stout so the typical bitterness is subdued, while the coffee notes are really brought out.
I like heavy hops taste, not that sweet tasting crap, but then again I quit drinking awhile back. Some days I miss it,but most days I don't give it a second thought. I tasted some of my favorite scotch a few days ago.. didn't care for it at all.

OH GOD. HOW COULD I FORGET THAT ONE. That one is right up there with those two. I think I actually like the Left Hand milk stout even more.

These stouts aren't sweet. Well chocolate one is... not the oatmeal one though or the milk stout. It's just a super heavy and filling beer. On the other hand, I really don't like hops... IPAs aren't something I like...at all.

They are all really good, but Fireman and Devil's Backbone are the best.
I sampled the local brews in dozens of countries while on active duty. I'm so glad the US is edging away from canoe beer.
You think these beers will elevate you to germany's standard of beer? Fine. So when is your country going to rise above that and make good beer? :p

It does seem odd to tout America's superiority by bragging about our beer. I haven't had a beer in over 20 years, but after I quit drinking, these micro brews started showing up all over the place. Even my small home town in Montana (population around 2000) has it's own brewery now. I understand they are quite good, but that's comparing them to our standard beer, so it doesn't say a Hell of a lot. It would be like going up to Canada and bragging about American beer and Obamacare. I doubt they'd be impressed.
I really liked the IPA's and Sweetwater was one of my favorites but I have really tried to cut down on drinking because I have a very hard time controlling it.
My father, my brother and I have all worked for Coors. I can tell you, I sure got tired pissing in all those bottles ;-)

To be honest, I haven't ever had an american beer. Except perhaps for a Duff, which I just bought because I was surprised to find that Homer Simpson's favorite brew was real. It tasted like dog-barf. (Or at least what I imagine dog-barf to taste like.) And, later, I found out, it was actually made in Germany. So perhaps the recipe is American, I don't know, but still a bad German beer.
Another german beer, served in a plastic bottle *
shudders* had me throw up. Just one beer, mind you. It was the taste.
On other occasions I've had okay German beers. Just two weeks back I was in Cologne, and me and two mates had a decent beer there. But all in all, German beer doesn't seem that impressive. And that's what strikes me as funny when someone says they have to get their quality of beer up to German standards. German beer is like Ikea-furniture. There's nothing wrong with it. It's a Household name. It's serviceable. You can get some okay deals with it. And nobody should be ashamed for buying it. ... It's
fine... But it's overal bland and not something one should feel proud over either. You wouldn't be impressed if any country said they could be proud they'd soon equal Sweden's superior furniture-building-skills, even though they are world-renowned for it.
If I drank beer, I might not be the world's most interesting man, but I can tolerate a Heineken or a Guinness.

We single handily beat the Germans in the war of 1812 when Jesus and Ronald Reagan stormed the beaches of Normandy. Now, with our micro breweries, we are defeating the krauts once more.

This seems to be one of those instances ;-)
German beer is meh, Bavarian beer is godly.
I drink too much beer to buy that stuff i'd go broke

First had this at my daughter's wedding in Estes Park. Brewed in Fort Collins. Amber ale. I like ales personally. This is so good they don't sell it in Utah.
American beer; tastes like real beer, only someone drank it once before.
Best American microbrew IPA I've had to date: Bell's Two Hearted Ale

River Horse! That's from my old stomping ground.
There are good microbrewed beers in the US. But the mass produced stuff is canoe beer.
America Sucks, Heineken, Guinness and Carib for Life.
Heineken is horse-piss.
Point in case

I used to tend bar in a place that sold an Irish beer called Harp. I recall that as being very good. We also sold Gunniess Stout, which I thought was undrinkable. Some of our customers liked it, however.
Try Arrogant Bastard.
