QuoteResidents of Mobile's Midtown neighborhood were disappointed and upset to find Ku Klux Klan flyers referencing Martin Luther King Jr. on their lawns this weekend.
Local 15 TV reported that several dozen flyers inside plastic bags were left at homes throughout the neighborhood. The flyers wish a happy birthday to King and state "The blacks have NAACP, the Mexicans have La Raza, the Jews have JDL, and white people have the KKK."
A phone number listed is for the North Carolina-based Loyal White Knights and a recorded message includes expletives and negative comments about King's actions during the Civil Rights movement.
Residents removed the flyers as quickly as possible.
Throughout 2015, various KKK groupsdistributed recruitment flyers throughout the state on multiple occasions. Residents of those communities, as well as law enforcement officials and city leaders, have denounced the practice as offensive and upsetting.
In March, thousands of KKK flyers were left at Selma homes on the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. At the time, Robert Jones, the grand dragon of the Loyal White Knights of the KKK told AL.com that he was frustrated about support for Martin Luther King, Jr. and said people are "supporting a man they don't know about."
Police officials have said that, under some circumstances, the distributors, if identified, could be charged with criminal littering.
Looking at it, from the outside, you somewhat have to feel sorry for the Klan and other regressive groups. Sure, I hope they all get fired into the sun, but at the same time I find it sadly hilarious that they're just stuck in the past while the world moves on. They're desperately trying to recreate their good old days, but it's not working. It's like watching an old, out of shape man try to do the same things that he did when he was a young buck. It's amusing, but at the same time it's somewhat sad, and they'll inevitably get hurt.

Um, yeah...Sorry, guys, but us other white people have been talking. We don't want you representing us.
I knew a bunch of KKKers back in Dayton Ohio. Greenville Ohio, a dinky shithole of a town was one of their 'strongholds' a few years back. Most of them were fat, dumpy hilljacks who were mostly unemployable and highly annoyed by the fact that other people who actually go to school and graduate get decent paying jobs while they sit around drinking beer pissed off nobody will pay them to sit around drinking beer..
I live in North Carolina and had a KKK recruitment flyer taped to my mailbox a few years ago. I suspect they really wouldn't want me as a member.

Nope, not really. Not at all, actually.

Plus, aside from the bigotry, they're collectivist. They see "white people" as a distinct group in conflict with other groups. Basically, the us and them mentality. What common interest does a white person from Iowa have with a white person from South Africa or Russia? And "race traitor" implies some sort of common authority that all white people should be beholden to. And look at the concept of "racial purity". It's pretty strange to be against "race mixing" when it's such a big part of how we got this great variety of human traits in the first place. The british wouldn't be british without the norman conquest, for example. Racial supremacy is a childish collectivist mentality that defines in-group and out-group on the most superficial of traits and expects to not only be taken seriously, but demands unquestioning allegiance. It's bizarre.
How would they feel if I chose a tasteful floral print over white for my sheets?
