RIP You know what I did? I checked it. Lol. For one moment it felt like he can't actually die.
Oh me too, man. First thing this morning. Thinking rumors like this one make me hate the internet.....but no. Instead it was true.
Another icon leaves the game. Lemmy a couple of weeks ago, Bowie today. Dark times in the world of music.

Thats the rotation of the clock sadly. Very sad day, I didn't even know he was sick :(, but at least he had his family with him in the end.
The current times we live in, the stars of yesturday are either dying, or being brought up on perverse criminal charges, but either way thats just how time works.
A musical genius who inspired so many, R I P.

He was suffering from it for 18 months. He passed on peacefully in a bed surrounded by his family.
Shit. That sucks...
Cancer really is a bitch.
They had labyrinth on over Christmas, watched it with my boyfriend, neither of us had seen it in years, and we talked about how tight his leggings were. Maybe not a forbearance, but its like odd how this movie I watched countless times as a child in the 80s was on, part of my childhood, this christmas gone, a month before he died :(
Awww. Labyrinth.
His illness was kept very private. His death is shocking and sad. He will be missed.
I never followed his career. I'm sure I heard many of his songs, and probably even enjoyed them without knowing who the artist was. His name was everywhere, and his face was as recognizable as my mother's, but the only thing he did that I associate with his career was a surreal murder movie about space or the future or something like that.
I'm at the age now where when an old guy dies, I think, "Gee, he seems awfully young," and I suppose Bowie at 69 is on the young side, but not terribly young. Every couple of months now, a former associate or coworker, sometimes younger than me, kicks the bucket, and I think, "Gee, that's young."
I'm still good friends with a college roommate, who works hard to stay in excellent health and prides himself on it. He attributes his longevity to taking care of his health, and disapproves of those who do any less. Every time someone dies, he explains it away as a personal failure. He always says, "Well, he let himself go. He was overweight, and didn't exercise." He views death as something avoidable. I swear, if he lives to be 110 and goes to a funeral of some guy that lived to be 105, he's going to say, "Well you know, he let himself get sadly out of shape. Over the last 5 years, I don't think he ever rode his bike, or ran more than once a month."
Bowie had what appeared to be a life far more fulfilling than most. He may not have lived to be 100, but his success was admirably phenomenal. We should all be so lucky.
Yes RIP
He will be missed
