Title: Some form of company.
Post by: Jannabear on January 09, 2016, 02:25:03 AM
I feel completely alone, a massive majority of the people around me where I live at are intellectually bankrupt, hyper religious, homophobic, racist, xenophobic, etc. I live in a stereotypical american city, and it's extremely depressing. Anyone up for talking?

Hi Jannabear, and welcome to our little band of heathens. I hope you'll like it here.
We talk about anything and everything here. Especially when we get derailed.

Welcome. I feel the same at the other side of the planet in a completely different world. Try not to dwell on it, relax and post away.

Welcome. Stereotypes are how the human brain thinks, forming patterns to relate to and define an average against which exceptional things are measured. There will always be stereotypes and exceptions.

You'll discover that you see exactly what you look for. You look for exception and beauty in the mundane and you will find it. Think of it as the grey background against which white and black dots eventually become evident. You can see a vast sheet of concrete if you look for it, or see the small colored flower that fights its way up through the crack to appear for its beautiful moment. Look for the cracks and the flowers, you will find them.

Close but not quite true. I go with the BRST way, with ghost fields and all that non-Abelian gauge stuff...

Well gee, I looked that up to better comprehend it and got as far as Yang-Mills and decided, nah. You and Baruch have fun chattin' with each other.

This is why Joseph and I have so few friends.  He's in the faculty lounge, I am outside ... we are shouting at each other ... and everyone else has gone home ;-)

Baruch and joseph are flirting-bantering like an old couple. But joseph has another mistress, he can't stand  pr to be treated badly. A bit like a love triangle. He is a proper white knight though. I'm jealous. :sad2:

I do prefer to play the Black Knight.  Shoe traumatized me.  I am ... Baruch-man!  Jonb was like my Boy Wonder ... but y'all scared him away.

Naaah, if 'played' properly all three of you (you, joseph and pr) are too tradtional to be Black Knights. The members of old generation in this forum are pretty much softies. It would be too easy and merciful to go that way though.

*Cackles
