Title: Deepek Chopra Verses Sam Harris
Post by: Solitary on October 11, 2015, 02:47:08 PM
I think Chopra is hilarious when he says quantum mechanics is not about material, because that is just what mechanics means, it sure as hell doesn't support spiritualism. Even energy itself is about particles of energy. https://youtu.be/hU6TkfCGlX8

Superficial use of words, in a popular guise ... is not helpful either.  People have a popular idea of QM, and of GR, that has no basis in actual science, but is helpful keeping the government grant money flowing to the universities ;-)  College divinity faculty haven't realized this yet, they are still trying to rely on parishioners.

But to be fair, Steven Hawking can be just as dense as Deepak Chopra on QM, when he is speaking of spirituality.

In physics, Dr Penrose is smarter too ;-)

Phisophy is not bad, it's just there are philosophers doing bad phiosophy. As to Deepek Chopra, he's one of the worst kind - pretending to understand QM, when experts in physics are still struggling with it.
