Title: New here .born again Atheist
Post by: beacatcher on September 13, 2015, 10:09:51 PM
When I was 5 years old and discovered that the Easter Bunny wasn't real or Santa, in the back of my mind I realize God was a lie all the adults also conjured up
I was brought up in a not overly religious home. my father Catholic my mother Church of Christ..neither one ever went to church regularly .but they sent my sister and I to church camp and vacation bible school just to get us out of their hair during summers .So I was, indoctrinated to believe like everyone around me..but always was this nagging feeling that it was all a fraud..
In college, I studied philosophy  and world religions. still nothing?.
Eventually I made my way back to science and reason and decided that  all religions were fantasies  of indocrination perpetrated adults..likely because we can forsee our own death like no  other animal on earth does. Death is a permanent  separation from life and loved ones so in order to cope with the inevitable, the human species came up with various coping  mechanisms  called religions. Some religions took on political and financial  powers..to become controlling. It's the nature of our species.
As we have entered the age of science and reason I really expected more of an epiphany of awareness..but it has not happened.
Even today I am often a closet atheist..because I get the look from others who find out that  I'm the Devils spawn..it's not worth trying to reason with those still indoctrinated.
If there is anything magical in our DNA it didn't come from the spirit world. it came from extremely intelligent creatures who have a million years of advancement on us.
I look for local groups to mingle wirh..so refreshing to find others like myself..dating on the other hand has been a landmine of issues..and I intend to restrict any future relationship with someone with the same mindset as myself ...the enlightened ones..

I can't say I know there is or isn't a god, but one thing I know for certain is that religious beliefs are nonsense.  If there is a God, I would imagine he would be horrified by Christians and Muslims.  Now zombies are a different matter.  There's something to worry about.

The first Western zombies, are seen in Medieval pictures of the general resurrection.  You aren't resurrected with your good looks intact, but Night of the Undead.  It is the flip side of the Christian coin.  Of course cremation makes mince meat of this image.  "Help, I am being chased by a funerary urn!".

Do you catch bees, beecatcher? I imagine you frolicking through the woods with a butterflybee-net, swinging it uselessly at bees.

Is it Bee-Catcher or Be-A-Catcher?

Either way, welcome.

Solomon--it must be 'be a catcher', for they are the glue that holds a baseball team together.  They call the shots from the pitcher at the plate, and the good ones can direct where some of the fielders play.  They are in the hub of any game.  So, from the intro, this person seems to be calling his own shots in his life.  Good for him.

Oh,,,,,,,,,,,,,welcome!

"I’m standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliffâ€"I mean if they’re running and they don’t look where they’re going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That’s all I’d do all day. I’d just be the catcher in the rye and all."
