Title: Reselling the scarce water of California
Post by: AllPurposeAtheist on May 17, 2015, 04:46:28 PM
Ok, normally I don't bother with petitions, but this one kinda pisses me off.. Nestlé is taking the very scarce water from California and reselling it back to people for absolutely absurd profits..
Go ahead and sign the damned thing..

You can thank the republican politicians that make the laws for allowing that, as well as every other major problem we have with the USA.   Solitary

Give em time..Some day or another they'll decide to dig up an entire state and move it to Kansas or somewhere so they can have a brand new mountain range..

Actually I think god must have a sadistic side.  Remember when Rick Perry (Texas governor) held a big prayer thing at some stadium when fires were burning across the state?  Results, you ain't seen nothing yet, the fires quadrupled and size and intensity.

I revisited this a while ago all prepared to scream and shout about the rotten Nestlé CEO and how utterly greedy he was selling water and indeed several sites are claiming he said water should all be privatized for corporate greed and blah blah blah..
Well it turns out he made a valid point and one activists seem to overlook and that is that only about 1.5% of the fresh water used is needed for hydration of human beings and the remaining 98.5% is being used so utterly irresponsible and the global supply of fresh water is running out.  One of the main points is water needs to have value assigned to it or else people will continue to waste it irresponsible until we have entire cities and states dying of thirst and unable to supply it without going to war over this substance we all have to have and use..

I'm not sure that I entirely agree with Nestlés approach to the issue, but he is right that human population and the demand for potable water is outstripping the global supply for it and it's happening at a rate unprecedented in the history of the human race.

Read the claims by the site and watch the video. The video doesn't jive with the claims of the author.

This is why people need to stop having babies in twos and threes.

Human growth is pretty much a great danger, one of the most dangerous, but nobody wants to say it because its so taboo to consider referred to human beings the same way they do cattle in how they cull them to stop disease from spreading. This is why the one child policy in china, while years ago I thought seemed cruel, maybe isn't as bad as thought, given the current climate we have of using up resources in abundance.

People will die out on mass regardless if it keeps up, so what is less cruel?

You really can't limit people to the amount of kids they have without the problems china is experiencing . I dislike the idea because there will always be exemptions for the wealthy people while the poor cannot begin to expand their families. Better resourse management can go much further. People really don't need to water lawns, but do need water to drink and crops do need irrigation.

I more think in long term and, yeah this is really grim to think about, and nobody wants to hear it, but the growth of people world wide has skyrocketed in the last few generations, and human beings are a species that bulldozes resources to hell, while pumping out more and more toxic chemicals into the atmosphere. And those trying to sustain resources and help to maintain it are just a few compared to the millions of human beings who just don't give a shit.

Its unfortunate, but if people are dying out because of lack of resources, war, extreme climate change and the like, its just gonna happen and, not to sound like an extremist hippie, maybe its better it does and like how humans cull animals to 'control the population', maybe it be better if nature does the same to it.

I'm not a heartless bastard, I don't like seeing people suffer, I do give to charities (ones that actually try to help people not the ones that pocket it), but in the grand scheme, we have fucked up our own planet, and there are a lot more people who just don't give a shit compared to those that do.
