Quote from: Mike Huckabee“It’s been manufactured by the left, just as was the war on women,†Huckabee said. “There was no war on women. The left has gotten very good on creating a crisis, something to divide the country, something to create this sense in which ‘we’ve got to go after these conservatives because they are trying to trample over our rights.’â€
He added that the LGBT rights movement is like something out of George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984â€: “It is a classic example of â€" really a page out of ‘1984,’ when what things mean are the opposite of what they really are. And that’s what I’m seeing here is that in the name of tolerance, there’s intolerance. In the name of diversity, there’s uniformity. In the name of acceptance, there’s true discrimination.â€
Using doublespeak to decry doublespeak...is that then
quadruple-speak?
The right is full of shit. You cant say you value women's rights then try to control their bodies and deny them equal pay. These morons rightfully cry about how women in the middle east are treated, but secretly they want to be a theocracy here.
The right are becoming masters of doublespeak. When they call discrimination "religious freedom," and call demanding equal rights "persecution," and twist every noble thing into some kind of "evil," that's doublespeak. But when they accuse the left of using doublespeak, that is some kind of double-doublespeak.

The GOP is what Orwell described in Animal Farm and 1984

I don't think I would go that far, but they are definitely picking up some pointers. This crap, about the left being the ones that reverse the meaning of words, has got to be shot down as the lie that it is. When a victim is called a "bully" for protesting a bully, they are talking doublespeak, and taking a page straight from
1984's "Ministry of Truth," which (for anyone who hasn't read it) was devoted 24/7 to propaganda, including the rewriting of history.
Seems like a good name for
Fox News: "The Ministry of Truth."
Help yourself :)

Here's a segment of an article that articulates the situation well:
Quote from: Ordinary GentlemanThe right doesn’t want to have a conversation. They don’t want to use language to speak. The conservative movement has weaponized its linguistic arsenal. They have it down to an art form, or a soft science maybe. They’ve carved away at language until words become smart bombs and targeted long-range missiles.
It’s not just about ratings. It’s about control. It’s about reading the demographic writing on the wall. They do this by rigidly enforcing the proper use of language across the entire conservative movement â€" Fox, the radio shows, political leaders in the Republican party, and so forth. They use guys like Frank Luntz to help carefully select the exact phrases that will garner the most emotional response among likely conservative voters.
The whole thing is a machine and the whole point of the machine is to control and to distract. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. Only, well, not quite that. Freedom is war. War is strength. Strength is peace. Ignorance is enforced through the often unspoken, but tightly controlled, rules laid out by the conservative movement itself and maintained through the manipulation of language. Rightwing double-speak.
Ditto! Solitary
Ditto phobia is a terrible thing to have. :naughty: :biggrin2:

Just as there's no war on Christmas, but don't tell that to Billy O.
Better tell Fox, there's a new war..a war on ANTS and this liberal hippie is the ring leader! I've been spreading pestilence from the sky with coffee grounds and creating the occasional earthquake and I also flood them out..
