Title: Only In Utah

QuoteYou won’t be arrested, but you won’t necessarily be allowed to get your driver’s license if you show up with a colander on your head. It all depends on your state and its stance on the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and its members, who are known as Pastafarians.

Recently a woman in Utah was allowed to wear a colander on her head for her driver’s license photo. Headgear and hats are not normally allowed for photos, but there is an exception for religious garments. Utah has recognized the Pastafarians’ church as a religion, so she was allowed to wear the colander as a religious statement.

In Illinois, a gentleman wasn’t as lucky when he tried wearing a colander for his driver’s license photo last year. While state laws allow for religious head dressings that don’t cover any areas of the face, the state found the headgear to be satirical and not religious. A senior legal advisor for the state said that wearing the headgear was a form of free speech, but so is giving the finger, which also isn’t allowed for a driver’s license photo.

Well at least Illinois understands the true nature of the FSM. That's a lot more than can be said for many of the theists that drop by here.

So what your saying is, all it takes for any batshit and insane actions to be taken seriously and anything people do in that insanity to be classed as dismissible, is for it to be classed as a religion?

We've already known that for a looong time ^^

Real Pastafarians don't use colanders. They use their hands to drain the water.

Are there really any "real" pastafarians? If so, they're as batshit crazy as they come! I've never had a plate of spaghetti thrown at me, but to some I suppose that's compelling enough evidence to pass as a sighting. Closer than some other religions can claim I guess.

Yes there are, it's satirical religion, like the Church Of Reality, that is also tax exempt.  http://www.venganza.org/ Solitary

Asia Lemmon, also known as Jessica Steinhauser, an atheist and member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, said she wanted to wear the colander, also known as a pasta strainer, on her head for the photo to make a statement.
And years before this, she went by Asia Carrera, a well known adult film star.
The Spectrum just put out an article about how all of this went down. Asia is a very smart lady and I respect her motives â€" and bravery â€" for doing this in the middle of Mormon country.
Here’s the article, it’s great: CFSM ‘Pastafarian’ makes statement
Trivia: Asia also appeared in The Big Lebowski, in the Logjammin’ scene with Karl Hungus, one of the Nihilists ( /cable expert).
