Title: Origin of Religion
Post by: DRACONICSTARZX on December 01, 2014, 09:45:01 PM
So I'm doing a Origin of Religion 8 page Research paper. I need more ideas and references that have to be from professional sites ending in .edu, .org, or .gov. Anything that follows that would help thank you.

Just type history of religion or other subject topic with. edu or .net or .org. Plenty of material. Also, .com sites that quote other sources will lead you to .org or .net sites.

Origen of religion only requires one word: IMAGINATION.

Religion was not a starting point. It is merely a point in the timezone of human philosophy. Study Gobleki-Tepi, or La Grange...perhaps the cave paintings at Chauvet. All show that humans and their "religions" evolved over a long time but started more animistic than a deity driven religion. Animism, totenism, shamanism, and deities, it is a relatively easy process to follow. You may need to spend some time paging through more anthropology than religion. And if you spend enough time you will find a remarkable similarity to humanities religious evolution that coincides with the evolution of cognitive thought, which can be seen today in the development of a childs cognitive growth. Just like a child will attach human actions and thoughts to a doll or dress and then invent imaginary characters, so too did humanity eventually conjure up the gods.

Religion began when man first realized his own mortality.

Gobekli Tepi is a good starting point, because it is the oldest known structure and (every archaeologist agrees) it is a religious site, and very animistic. Also it was built during what was thought to be the later hunter-gather stage. I posted an article on this awhile back, but I think we lost it. The irony is that, to this point- the site is still being developed- it seems to predate a pastoral city nearby. That is how important their religion was to them back then. Makes me think some significant event made a big impression on their highly suggestive minds.
