From the author of "A manual for creating atheists", Peter Boghossian on asubject we are keenly aware but he expresses very pointedly in this talk. Enjoy (video: 25 min).

Here's the thing..ask nearly anyone you meet if they're honest and authentic and of course they are. Hell, I had a steak at Teds Montana Grill and their drink coasters tell you they're authentic. It says: Authentic American Cuisine. I'm to assume then Ted Turner wouldn't lie, it authentic and probably invented the idea if cutting up a cow to make steaks.
Have you meet anyone who admits to being a phoney, full of shit all the time about everything?

When someone tells me they're authentic and honest a little antenna goes up in my head and I hear air raid sirens going off screaming: HE'S FULL OF SHIT! HE'S FULL OF SHIT!
I've been conditioned to assume most people really are full of shit especially when they claim authenticity.

I enjoyed the video and was particularly pleased that he encourages people to say "I don't' know" and to not use quantum physics unless the topic of discussion is quantum physics. I disagree however with his point that "I'm offended" is a meaningless response. If the goal is to communicate persuasively, hearing "I'm offended" is a huge neon sign that you are failing. While it may be better to speak the truth than be liked, the more successful communicators are able to do both. This is one reason why Neil deGrasse Tyson is more than just a brilliant mind, he knows how to speak the truth without putting people off.

I like the video and it makes some valid points, but as I said, most people are authentically full of shit.
Well, I didn't exactly say that, but I meant it..authentically.
