Title: Greetings
Post by: Shadow Fox on May 01, 2014, 01:45:54 AM
Hello everyone,

I am Shadow Fox, I have been quite bored recently. I have been enjoying quite a lot of Darkmatter2525's and cult of dusty's videos on YouTube over the last couple of months. So, I have decided that it would be quite a lot of fun and enriching for me to join this here web forum.

A few things about me:

I am from Southern Oregon
I discovered there is no such thing as God at the tender age of 13 (at least the ones people actually believe in lol)
If I were to long tag my beliefs. I would be a Agnostic Atheist Kopimist.  Mostly the later two.
I like anime, comics, Almost every kind of music and writing.
I am going to college. I am going to be majoring in Either Writing / English or something else. I was gonna do Fire Science but I have discovered the classes I need to take completely conflict with my work schedule and I cannot do one or the other.

OK. That is enough of my life story. So how are you all today?

Good day shadow fox. Welcome to the forum.

A couple of questions about about Kopimism.

Is plagiarism the same as copying? Also, is it ok according to the church, to copy off someone elses exam for instance?

Plagiarism is highly looked down on. It is not the same as copying. Giving credit where credit is due is what is expected of people.

That short video is how I believe we "for most of us Kopimi" feel.

When you copy something, You should copy it because of two reasons. The first is that you are in the search for knowledge. If you copy someones test next to you, It defeats the purpose of gaining knowledge. For example, I have tons and tons of Ebooks I have taken from the internet on all matters of every field of science, literature, math, domestic skills and so on. Am i going to read all of them? Well no! Its actually an archive I am building and its up to about 500gb of books and some learn to speak languages audios.

This is just one example of something. Another could be copying a text or a quote of inspiration and so forth. really it would take too long to REALLY get into it. The second reason is that you want to copy it because you have a personal interest in the item. Along with that, your intention should not be to hoard it to yourself. Anything you make a copy of you should be willing to freely share it with everyone else.  Plagiarism is copying something and slapping your name on it and the other.

To address two final things quick like.

1. There really is no actual "Church" per say (although there is a place in Switzerland and a few chats I think where some gather to do their thing online. Although, there is a lot of people who kind of treat it like a joke in a way. There is no holy book or doctrine. Most of the ideals come from individuals and is scattered. Think of the basic foundation as a few bricks you start out with and than you add your own materials to build your own home with it. There are some differences in ideologies between some of us, however, we basically all agree on a lot of the same stuff. Someday I wish to collect the thoughts and ideas from many and create a single pdf of everything collected. A lot is based on simple but open logic, science, futurist predictions as well our own and some of our ideas of the perfect world and what it would be like.

now.

2. The main things that is a vanilla things we worship or rather agree with.  Is the Internet is Holy, The search for knowledge is sacred, Copying is ethically right and of course we believe that sharing of all things and not just simply data is also a virtue as well.

I don't much care for religions - even atheist ones.

I used to read comics, and I enjoy most of the comic based movies, but I've never been into anime (unless you count Akira).

Anyway, welcome to the forum.
