I'm not a physicist, but I gave up on string theory. I tried to follow it, but got lost at the same point where an enthusiastic supporter was describing it, and said, "This is where even we physicists get lost." I thought, "OK, I'm not going to struggle with this until the big boys can sort it out. I'll take another look at that point."
