The audience will vote for which teams they want on Mars first. Mars One says broadcasting rights and sponsorship will predominantly fund the $6 billion project, which will start training successful applicants in 2015.
Successful applicants will have to say goodbye to Earth forever, with the first crew of four people expected to launch into space for their seven months journey to Mars in 2022.

I have grown weary of Fatwas.
I don't personally see the point to a Mars mission until they have all the kinks worked out and know enough to assure the ability to live there. There is apparently water, but lower gravity and atmosphere issues are certainly to be considered. I've read the speculation about terraforming and so on, but they better have a good plan before they do it.
Fatwa? Meh. Fatwa against Christmas? Good luck with that.

Another thing to note is that this isn't deliberate suicide. You can't come back...but the aim is that these people will continue to live until they simply die naturally on mars.

I think you'd have to choose some really quite exceptional individuals for the psychological burden to not be too great.
Even then, we can obviously only guess at how people would react to being on mars.
The question is, can we make our guesses educated ones? Are there any tests or trial runs we can do to in order learn from them?

The people that made this fatwa are a bunch of superstitious over-zealous retards that want to be simple people on Planet Earth and follow their religion and just be happy that way. Every single day people condemn science and technological progression in the name of religion. It's going to be 2014 soon and this is like a really, really bad movie being played billions of times over. I wonder why these type of statements even make the press when there are all sorts of comments on this very web site that dominate religious superstition every single time.
