Title: New Styles
Post by: wolf39us on September 12, 2013, 08:39:06 PM
Okay, so I really want to start looking into alternative styles for the site.  I'll be more than happy to keep the default theme as the site default.  But I would love to add alternatives for some of our users.

Surely some of you must be open to getting away from this old fashioned style and into something a little sharper looking.

I'll post a link to some phpbb demos.  Keep in mind that any styles that are implemented will have to be heavily edited to work with all of the mods I have added...  So I can't just add a bunch :-)

Oh come on dude! You've nothing more to do with your life than to sift through hundreds of thousands of php pages. You now live to serve us. The beast is now your master and yes, I like various styles and they''re not all super hard to edit.
Besides, it's FUN to hack up scripts and code. ;)

I like the simple and straightforward layout of AF, maybe some re-colouring is enough. That shouldn't be too hard to implement, right?

Okay so I did a little touch up and made an alternative theme.  Everyone is welcome to give it a shot (I haven't added every feature to save a little time, but if people like it... I will add the remaining features)

Theme:  AF.com BETA bitches!

note, your style will NOT change permanently!  If you want the old style back, simply revisit the website.

Keep things the way they are. We don't want to become a confusing bandwidth hog like .org .

hmm?  The style is no more a bandwidth hog than the old one...

I agree with the others that simpler is better for me. On .org I can never tell when a person it talking or he quoted someone without having to study the damn thing ( of course this speaks more about me than the site), but I would like to see us, again, changing our banner to include popular topics of the moment and time. And you can get rid of the current banner anytime.

I can't help but think that "nude pics of it didn't happen-aitm" might be a tad offputting to some theists, and might label aitm as some kind of deviant........ oh, wait. Never mind.

Meh. I like the usual style, maybe making it a little sharper or something.

Leave the site as it is, please.

I like Aero for one reason - the text in the posts is easier to read.  But I prefer subsilver2 in general.  Although I wouldn't mind being able to choose a color other than blue.  (I really don't like Aero as a theme, though.)

lol is anyone even trying the style I posted?  It's almost exactly the same.  Only subtle things were changed!

Just give it a shot guys

Subsilver plus?  About the only change I see is the color of the dividing lines.  What am I missing?

Menus are changed a bit.  Login location... User prefs, and yes the dividing lines

I really like the new style, wolf. It's a subtle change, but looks more crisp and clean.

I'm not even going to be bother to be honest. The look of the forum is somewhere at the bottom of reasons I come here.

What about the exact same layout and text styles, but differently coloured backgrounds? I'd like to try out green/red/silver/etc.

I got nothing against the blue/cyan theme, I'd just like to try out different colour themes.
