so i joined a christian forum almost a year ago. someone pointed out that it's funny for me to be there even though i'm atheist. so i started thinking, why have i not joined an atheism forum yet?

i crave intellectual abuse... kidding :D. i'm not really sure, i want to know them better and have some exchange, to see how they react to my opinions and what i base them on. it has been humbling and enlightening at least.
edit:i highly recommend joining into groups outside your own clique, as i said its very humbling. it has helped me humanize people of faith. but you need patience and you should never attack or be hostile in any way.

I was raised as a Christian and have been surrounded by them and inundated with their philosophy my entire life. Joining a Christian forum is not my idea of expanding my horizons or learning anything new.

I belong to a Christian forum ... haven't posted there in a year or more. But I agree that having heterodox opinions in one's life is a good thing.

I don't actually know of any cliques here. There are some trolls (hidden evangalist). Please jump in. You may think what you wanted to say has been posted, but then we can't see your personality.

I've not joined a theist forum in a long time, mainly because whenever I say I'm an atheist I get banned within a few days.
Also, I just can't be doing with the stupid if I'm honest. I know a fair few theists in real life, and that's enough.

What I generally hear about Christian forums is that as soon as they discover you're an atheist, they kick you out. I'm surprised they let you stay.

The two I've joined did nothing like that to me. I spoke my mind and didn't hide my lack of faith; I argued from reason, not emotion; and I respected their rules.
I'm sure there are some which summarily ban non-Christians. I've seen one or two which make faith a requirement for membership.
Generally, those forums are boring little circle-jerks where pecking orders are established, observed, and occasionally contested (which is really funny, if you ask me.) I've also met interesting believers with unusual takes on faith, their Scriptures, and spirituality in general. They make wading through the sludge occasionally worthwhile.
