Why isn't there an Atheism subsection in the "Religion General Discussion" section?
Yeah, technically we aren't a religion, but we fall in the context of Religion (in our case, lack there-of)
It's not really an "-ism", but more of a label "Atheist" just to mean this person lacks a belief in any god.
Myself, I'm actually Ignostic which means I deem the question "Do you believe in god?" to be unanswerable.
It's as unanswerable as the question, "Do you believe in Zargamorph?"
First you'd need to ask who or what is Zargamorph?
And if they say it's a who (a specific person/entity) you'd have to say, never met this entity, is there any evidence for this entities existence?
If they say no, no evidence? Then you'd have to ask, so what am I supposed to determine my belief on?
If they say its a what (a special type of entity), you'd have to ask them to clearly define it.
If they say it is any entity that has wings, then, yeah I believe that there are many Zargamorphs.
If they say it is a supernatural entity, then you'd have to come back with many more questions, like what is something that is supernatural? Anyway, rather than keep coming up with a million questions, they need to provide some coherent definition. I haven't yet seen any coherent definition of any god, so I am ignostic. For me to answer the question "Do you believe in god?" you first need to form a proper definition/question. I'm waiting...
Call atheism "a position" if you wish.
I sometimes refer to myself as a noncognitivist. Other times I'm a nullifidian.
I'm a Tralfamadorian.
I know exactly what they're talking about. It's a Bronze Age Semitic deity filtered through a Roman mystery cult with theology and "reasons" spackled on over top. That doesn't make it any more respectable.
But it was not objectionable to the Roman citizens. So it sold.

And that's fine if you're a gormless bumpkin from Rome who thinks that Zeus is the reason that thunder happens.
I didn't say otherwise.
