Title: Would theocracy work?
Post by: FreethinkingSceptic on May 15, 2025, 02:33:29 AM
Assuming it wasn't oppressive, such as toward women's rights. As an example, the Vatican is technically a theocracy, but they aren't stoning anyone to my knowledge.

Yeah, but i also don't think there are many non-believers in that  micro-state :p

Look, i think it all depends on what you mean with 'work'.
Ancirnt egyptians saw their leaders as deities. And while i'd rather live in my current democracy than then and there, there is no denying their empire was vast and long.

'Think my way or don't think at all' just isn't going to cut it for me.

Theocracy wouldn't work at all for me.
I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees.

Would you support a government run by people who believe in leprechauns and take orders from them?

If only we'd tried this theocracy thing before. I'm sure dictatorship would work too, as long as the dictator wasn't violent, genuinely cared about his people, and put competent people in positions of power.

I love freshmen, they have the weirdest ideas about what's a good idea for discussion.
