I see it as a good move, and am delighted that China is looking to improve trade relations with Australia.
But in the back of my mind I'm kind of hopeful at the same time that China's desire to join the CPTPP (trade pact) will be leveraged to at least give Australian citizen Yang Hengjun the option of life imprisonment in a humane prison over the death penalty.
Thoughts?
I read that a large cache of rare Earth elements has been found in Europe, which will mean that China won't have quite the monopoly of such resources they've had recently.
Oz has a bunch of rare earth metals, too. Bet it's going to be part of the conversation with the leadership.
