Hello everyone,
I have been raised in a muslim family and was a very strong believing muslim. At about
14 or 15 i basically started questioning everything, and i couldn't find any logical
way to come to the conclusion that god exists, let alone that the doctrines of any
religion are true.
When i was 17/18 i was already a strong atheist, the opposite of what i once was. I
also found (and still find) myself debating good and not so good friends of mine who are
muslim, some of who are atheist now.
Well i think that was enough for an introduction, nice to meet you all !
And yeah, bacon is great. :rollin:
welcome, I hope you are in a safe country or at least BE safe. Welcome again, hope to get your perspective when Muslim twits wonder in with babble from the quran.
Welcome.
:-D Welcome aboard bada94! Allahu Akbar!  Solitary
Thanks everyone.
Yeah i live in holland, and i'm thankful for that. I can't imagine living as an atheist in muslim countries, and i feel bad for the people who do. You know, the most problematic religion in the world has got to be islam, because of the hate and aggresiveness it puts into people.

Nope, I'm still a closeted apostate and living under my parents' roof. I just graduated from college so maybe in about a year, I'm gonna taste what bacon's like. :-D
Well, now that you mention it, I just remember that 1 week from now, the holy fasting month of Ramadhan comes again... oooh... another struggle for one month, sigh :-&
Congratulation for your deconversion. Can you tell to us more about your deconversion ?
Quote from: "viocjit"Congratulation for your deconversion. Can you tell to us more about your deconversion ?
Well, when i was about 14 i realised that i've always found the dogma of islam (and any other religion) to be unfair to others. I started thinking about if it was fair to think that i was going to heaven because i believe in this god, and that christians will go to hell for believing in a different one, etc.. And after that i just started thinking for myself, and i tried to find a good reason to believe in a god, and of course, i found none.
Actually it felt to me like i was just growing older and becoming an adult, who can think for himself, rather than accept what he's being told out of fear for an imaginary father. And the fact that adults still believe this stuff, while i could see that it was bullshit at the age of 14/15, still puzzles me.
Of course i've had many discussions with muslims, who were either mad at me for being a traitor (yes, that's what you are to them if you deconvert from islam), or who were trying to show me why i'm "wrong". And i'm not surprised to say that every one of them ended in saying "it's all about faith", or "i hope allah will burn you when you die". And there were absolutely no arguments, at least, no good ones.
You know I live in a Muslim ghetto in France and I can say that :
1.Some of them never speak to non Muslims.
2.Some of them can't speak French with the level B1 because they can only speak in dialectal Arabic and maybe in MSA. Some of them can probably speak in Classical Arabic (they live in France during many years).
For those who would like to know what is the level B1 go to the section Common reference levels in this
article in Wikipedia : //http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_European_Framework_of_Reference_for_Languages.
3.I can see women (a smaller minority) wear with a niqab in the everyday life.
4.I can see men wear a jilbaab in the everyday life. (a majority of them)
5.I can see women wear a hijab in the everyday life. (In the majority of case they are teenagers)
6.Each Friday we can hear the adhan around 01:00 PM (French hour , the mosque is inside the building where I live).
7.Sometime I can hear theirs conversations (I can't understand all because I don't know dialectal Arabic I use my knowledge in Classical Arabic , MSA and French to understand). They like to talk about conspiracy theories (they believe in the existence of a zionist conspiracy) , Islam , Their family etc...
Conclusion : A conclusion is not necessary. But I like this part of your message "i hope allah will burn you when you die" because this is the Muslim equivalent of Pascal's wager.
Welcome to the forum, bada94! 8-)
Wow i feel sorry for you. I would certainly try to do something about the circumstances under which you live. I always tell muslims that they can wear these stone-aged clothes if they like, but i will never stop ridiculing them for it, and society here seems to agree. :rollin:
Furthermore, i think the athan is just too much. They should really be more thankful for the french people who let them live in their country, instead of trying to make it a muslim country.
What is your origin if i may ask ?
Welcome to the forum.
I had lived around Muslims in Dallas for a time. The women were pleasant to talk to, but seemed to be wary of "learning too much," and the men, well, didn't much care for them since their arrogance and contempt for others made for awkward conversation. I remember I had angered the local imam (he visited the shop frequently due to business) because I was able to properly diagnose what was wrong with his car (it was out of gas), and warned him not to waste a few hundred dollars at the mechanic shop. After he had spent the money to have the car towed, and $150 for the mechanic to inform him how to check the fuel gauge, he refused to speak to me, even to the point of no longer saying "hello." I was quite amused. Inflated egos have a hard time standing up to reality.

I can define myself like an Indigenous French because my parents are French and the parents of my parents are French too.
You know I like your question because we are on Internet and you can ask what you want for this reason. In France the origin of anyone is a sensitive question because there are many people who are not indigenous French. I find that dumb because origin is a part of ourself (culture) therefore that must not be a sensitive question like we're all humans before to be French with Portuguese origin , Indigenous French , Maghrebis (by ignorance the majority of people who live in France label them like Arabs) etc...
Don't be feel sorry for me because I don't have many interactions with them therefore this is not very problematic for me.
Also I know that I live in a neighbourhood rather safe (there are few gangsters , killers
[you have really very few chance to be killed]) , stealers etc...) , .
In France you can find neighbourhood with a Muslim majority where you can be beat by people who are 14 years old to steal your phone (I never saw or hear a story of this kind in my neighbourhood. Many of these acts don't have link with Islam but many of them have a link with Islam).
You know I'm satisfy to live where I live because this is rather safe.

This is EXACTLY how i feel about most, if not, all muslims. My discussions with them start mostly because they see me eat food that is not halal. And everytime i could feel the ignorance, arrogance, and lack of logic that they were radiating all around them. I'm glad to admit that i do NOT have this problem with any other religious group.

I am glad to hear that, and i hope that you will stay safe. Also, i think it is very interesting that there are muslims majorities that commit such crimes in your country. It is the exact same here. I personally think that while at first it appears that it has not much to do with islam, you will quickly see that its roots are linked with islam a lot of times. The arrogance that these people have, comes from their faith more often than you think. And it is the same with other religions, but still less than with islam.
On a brighter note, I find Arabic chicks to be hot.

Fixed that for you.

Why do you like Arabic chicks ? this is a fantasm :) ?
@bada94 I read others messages that you wrote and now I know that you live in Netherlands.
In my knowledge the situation is the same (with some variants) in the majority of countries in Western Europe and Northern Europe therefore I prefer the word similar.
Like variants I can cite the next for Western Europe (you can easily guess that this is not complet) :
1.France : The majority of Muslims are from Maghreb.
2.UK : The majority of Muslims are from (alphabetical order) Afghanistan , India and Pakistan.
3.Your country : I don't know.

The majority of muslims here come from either Maghreb (Morocco), or Turkey. I myself was born here, but my parents are from Iraq.
By the way, i think it's quite impressive that you know some classical arabic, did you study it at school, or have you taken some kind of course for it ?

A lot of arabic chicks are hot, and a lot are kinda hard to see. xD
Bada94 I'm learning Arabic alone and I can say a thing. I like the root system of this language.
Example with ? and ? you can have words like : ??? (fire , flame etc... [Pron : n?r) , ??? (light [Pron : n?r]) , ????? (lighthouse [Pron : man?rat) etc...
Because I'm a native speaker of an indo-european language that fascinate me.
Also I like certain things in the Arabic grammar like the plural system.
Examples :
1.Sing : ??? (man , male etc... [Pron : rajul]) Plu : ???? (Men , males etc... [Pron : rij?l]).
2.Sing : ????? (woman , female etc... [Pron : imr'a]) Plu : ???? (women , females etc... [Pron : nis?']).
3.Sing : ???? (student , scholar etc... [Pron : ??lib]) Plu : ???? (students , scholars etc... [Pron : ??liban]).
These variations in the plural system fascinate me.
There are many things who attract me with foreign languages.

I'm impressed, nice job ! I'm glad you like the language, i also like the sound of classical arabic. But i can't speak it, i can only speak with an iraqi dialect, which i think isn't as good-sounding.
An example is the word of "imra", the singular for woman, and "nisaa", the plural. In iraqi it would be "mara", and "niswan". I always thought the words sounded better in classical arabic. And the grammar in classical arabic is also a LOT more difficult.
I was also borned into a Muslim country (Iran) and just like you, I started questioning things at about 14/15. My Mullah teacher for the religion course, gave me an "F" for questioning the validity of Islam as a religion. So I had to go to summer school just to pass 9th grade. I made his life a living hell. I said to myself; that if he wants to rule by terrorism, I can do that too.
I stuffed potatoes in his tail pipe, poured sugar down his gas tank and had my sister call his house and pretend to be his angry mistress and on and on. When I told him I was behind all that which made his life so miserable, He told me that he was sorry and that I didn't have to come back to summer school anymore if I would stop my attacks. I told him that I will stop only is he resigned and never came back to my school.
To my surprise, he agreed and we never saw him again!
From then on, I became an atheist and would punish the "Religion" teachers for 10th grade to the end of 12th grade for spreading lies about their imaginary God.
They were so afraid of me! It was a wonderful and fun time.
The lesson, terrorism works both ways.
I fucking get pissed at liberal and right wing Christians both who complain about our blasphemy of their imaginary friend. SHUT THE FUCK UP! (them) I cant myself even at work listen to atheist music like they do gospel music in the kitchen where I work. And they want to bitch that I am "intolerant". NO FUCKWADS, Christians and gays and atheists living in Iran have a right to bitch, YOU DONT!
