Europe is having a nervous breakdown in a good way. Italy voted No to leaving Europe, they are trying to stop their system giving prime ministers iron clad power. Renzi wanted to change the system to provide more cantral power by weakening the senate. So they are trying to stay as democractic as possible in their own and people actually voted for that; against or for the current government. Though I doubt if Italians ever seriously even debated leaving EU at all. I hate referanda, they are never actualy a good idea, but this one turned out good as a result.
Austria voted for a Green Party president in this climate, by 31 K votes mind you, but it is pretty good news. It's a fucking speck of hope. Euro fell.
Though French election is next year and there won't be left party running. It will be between right and far-right. It's gonna get bloody overthere. Bu these two 'movement' to the opposite direction is bound to create somewhat difference.

Austria election: Far Right leader Norbert Hofer concedes defeat to Alexander Van der BellenQuoteAustria's voters have resoundingly rejected anti-immigration and eurosceptic Norbert Hofer's bid to become the European Union's first far-right president, a result greeted with relief from centrist politicians across the continent.
Instead, Greens-backed independent candidate Alexander Van der Bellen swept 53.3 percent of Sunday's vote against 46.7 percent for his rival from the anti-immigration Freedom Party (FPOe), according to public television projections.
"Today it is not an exaggeration if I say that today we see a red-white-red - the flag of Austria - as a signal of hope and change. A red-white-red signal from Austria to all the capitals of the European Union," Van der Bellen, 72, said in Vienna.
Italy referendum: PM Matteo Renzi resigns after clear referendum defeat
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has resigned after suffering a heavy defeat in a referendum over his plan to reform the constitution.
In a late-night news conference, he said he took responsibility for the outcome, and said the No camp must now make clear proposals.
With most ballots counted, the No vote leads with 60% against 40% for Yes.
The turnout was nearly 70%, in a vote that was seen as a chance to register discontent with the prime minister.
"Good luck to us all," Mr Renzi told reporters. He said he would tell a Cabinet meeting on Monday afternoon that he was resigning, then tender his resignation to the Italian president.
Germany wants Italy to go bankrupt, so they can pull a Bain Capital on them. Italy is the third largest financial entity in the EU, with lots of gold reserves. So basically, their referendum was ... No to the proposed bail-in of Italian bank depositors ... demand that ECU pays up. If ECU doesn't pay up, then the remaining Italian banks go on thin ice ... basically German economic blackmail. If Germany escalates, then there will be an Italexit.
Austrian voters showed solidarity with the their fellow Germans, no surprise there. Worry by Socialists concerning Netherlands is also premature. But if Ms LePen gets into the French Presidency, then the EU ... as a trojan horse for German conquest of Europe, is toast. The EURO was merely a tool of German hegemony ... all the winnings for Germans, all the losses for the other EU members. We do the same thing in the US, but we all speak the same language.
I'm very happy that Austria chose to reject the dark side of the Force. Hope the French do the same by rejecting LePen.
Sadly, we still have to contend with the Sith ruling the government in America. I am joining the Rebel Alliance in resistance against Darth Trumpenstein. Maybe I should train as a Jedi.
I'm happy with this development as well. Maybe the rest of the world is learning from Britain/US failures in resisting this latest wave of far-right populism.
Italy is the new Greece. I think Spain dodged the worst and got a bit better, but none of those countries will just check out with a show like Brexit. They cannot afford it, it is as simple as that.
About France, I am not hopeful. Though it looks like they can pull what is 'needed' without LePen.
In the end they all could gather around a common point just to save their asses. When it is about the economy, the whole monkey show about migrants would have no audience. Because it was all about the money and distritbution of power anyway. We'll see.
In the end only one conjoined Germany/Austria/Lux/Neth can survive, think of it like Highlander, only with Germanics. Everyone else in Europe has to die. Same plan as they have had since Roman times ;-)
I'm just happy I'm closer to dying of old age than ever and still have the option to speed that up if it becomes completely intolerable..I don't like where the world is headed and not entirely convinced that the show will be worth watching till the final credits roll.

Are you Bluish? (Quote from Sgt Pepper). Walloon or Flemish? The Walloons are Catholic Netherlanders. Batavii & Germanii - let's role! Exploit and occupy those Italics/Gauls/Hispanics/Britons/Irish. Europe is one place were things are always the same. My European ancestors spent all their time killing my other European ancestors.

The walloons are catholic Netherlanders? Not that it's true, but if anyone's a catholic Netherlander; it's us Flemish folk. The walloons are more like the French, if we're venturing into 'likes'. Just about as much as you are Canadian.
And yes, war and killing is ravaging current-day Europe. A miracle it is I'm alive to this day ;)

It won't take Hercule Poirot to figure this out! I got the two reversed ;-( ... oh the shame, now I will have to have another brownie desert ;-) Europe is an experiment in long term violence ... and evolution has worked well ;-)) ... Europeans are ever more effective in their violence ;-((
