Title: Changing my cell phone to the V10
Post by: AllPurposeAtheist on September 19, 2016, 05:36:54 AM
So I've decided to move on from my old Google Nexus 5 to an LG V10. Has anyone had a V10 before?  I thought about the V20, but too expensive and thought about Nexus 7..same issue.  The reason I'm going with the V10 other than liking LG phones is I got it without having to put a big chunk of cash out for a down payment. It was zero down, $20 a month for 24 months through T-mobile.. I actually pay my monthly bill on time,  probably the only bill I've ever paid on time for this long in my entire life..
I've really liked the nexus 5, but I decided since my eyes aren't getting any younger I might as well get a phone with a bigger screen..I'm going to be the owner of a Fablet..whoever came up with the word fablet needs to be shot through the head daily and twice on Sundays..

Something I'm considering adding if I like the phone enough.. Extended 6500 mAh battery. I run out of battery a LOT..

PowerBear LG V10 Extended Battery [6500mAh] & Back Cover & Protective Case (Up to 2.2X Extra Battery Power) - Black [24 Month Warranty & Screen Protector Included] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IUBG5PE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2S73xbVKCT38N

Never had an LG much less the V10, but it looks like a very nice phone.

All my mobile phones have been LG.  I've had other electronic components by LG also.  Usually I find their products to be highly reliable, except for a couple of external disk drives I went through in a short time.  They were identical, and I'm guessing it was an engineering flaw.  I've had other disk drives by LG that have outlasted  two computers, and I just stick them in the next computer I get.

My Nexus is an LG as well..I'm sold on LG as opposed to those exploding fuckers from Samsung..

Personally, I don't like LG, as a brand.  Their computer parts are quite inferior to other brand names.  Their DVD drives tend to fail to eject after a year or two, instead popping out a tiny little bit, hanging there a second and then popping back in the same as cheap Lite-On drives tend to do.  I've had no better luck with their monitors, once even having to send back the "repaired" monitor for a second repair immediately after receiving it.  I also have an LG dryer, which I have never liked.  It has a "sense dry" mode which seems to think "damp" is the same as "dry".

I steer clear of the brand altogether these days.  It is my firm belief that LG is a big brand name solely because of the amount of money they have spent in advertising over the years.  When is the last time you heard about the cool new LG product from a friend who loved it instead of from commercials?  For me, that has never, ever happened.

I got my V10 today.. So far it's a great phone, we'll see.
I liked my LG Google nexus, but it was beginning to slow down and hang up too much over time.

LG has been solid for me. The only phone brand I absolutely despised was HTC, but to be fair it was a Windows phone and that heavily biased my hatred because holy fuck the Windows OS causes aid cancer.

Yes, Windows is the leading cause of bit rot ;-(

I kind of like the dual screen concept, but so far I haven't found too many uses for it except perhaps when I'm out and about looking for directions to certain places. Restaurants for example..I can pull up the map on one screen and the menu on the other at the same time. Although it's not that big of a deal to have to just move off one screen for the other..
OH MY GOD!  THE TRAGEDY OF HAVING TO MOVE MY FINGER TIP JUST A TINY LITTLE BIT!  Can you even imagine the work involved in having to move your fingertips just slightly more than before? That's almost as bad as having to dig up entire mountains and move them across the continent with a teaspoon!
Ok, maybe it isn't quite that bad, BUT IT'S CLOSE!

Man, Windows DOES NOT belong on ANYTHING with less than 250GB of storage MINIMUM.  I had one of their stupid 32GB tablets come in the other week.  The storage was completely full and there was nothing to delete.  There weren't that many personal files on it.  I managed to clear up 4GB of space by deleting temp files, but that's as much as I could do with it.  The damned thing was used for surfing the Internet and that was about it and it still filled up the entire storage because Windows is bloat incarnate.  The idea to put the same operating system on computers and mobile devices, while cool on the surface, was just a bad, bad idea.  That's how Windows 8s get spawned, dammit!
