Randy PM'ed me. He sent me this
Quotestromboli-
In an older thread, I had a chance to read about your upbringing in the Mormon Church and how you later tried several other churches with which you became dissatisfied. I've read quite a few books by former Mormons, and I have my own Book of Mormon with verses highlighted so I can have some fun with the boys when they knock on my door. I think we can both agree that Joseph Smith made the whole thing up.
Your experiences with other Christian groups is equally problematic, IMO. The "prosperity gospel"? Sure...that's a modern error. The challenge, however, is that these negative experiences have soured you to the truth about God and His Church.
You probably still have a Bible in your home...King James or NIV? Take it out and take a look at Matthew 16:18-19. Jesus made a promise to build one church upon one rock, Peter. That Church is the Catholic Church, stromboli, and there is a reason why it is the largest and oldest...because it is the only one founded by Jesus Himself.
But there's more. I wrote this myself (I'm not simply copy-pasting you), and I think it explains more of the scriptural foundation of the papacy than you may have seen before.
Peter â€" The Royal Steward
Here are two questions that need to be answered:
1. Is Jesus a king?
2. Did He re-establish the office of the Royal Steward?
You probably know that Christians say “Yes†quickly to the first question, but you may have hesitated or even answered “No†to the second. Let’s take a look at what scripture and history tell us about the office of the Royal Steward.
In ancient times, a king might choose a second in command (known as the royal steward or prime minister) who literally wore a large key as a symbol of his office and who spoke with the authority of the king. The prophet Isaiah confirms this:
Quote
Isaiah 22:20-22
"In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah. I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.â€
In the passage above, God is speaking to Shebnah, an unfaithful steward serving King Hezekiah. God is telling Shebnah that he is about to be replaced by Eliakim, and this confirms the existence of the office, the key worn as a symbol of the office, and the continuation of the office in perpetuity -- despite the change of office holder. In other words, the office of the royal steward continued even when the man who held the office died or was replaced by someone else. God Himself passes the key from one steward to the next.
In the New Testament, we learn that Jesus inherits the throne of his father, David.
Quote
Luke 1:31â€"33
And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.
We also read the following:
Quote
Matthew 16:13-19
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets." "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
The passage quoted above from Matthew tells us that Jesus named Peter as His royal steward and gave him the “keys to the kingdom of heaven" as the symbol of his authority to speak in His name. Since Jesus is an eternal king, the office of royal steward in His kingdom will never end. Peter died as a martyr as Jesus foretold, but the successors of Peter have taken his place in the perpetual office that Jesus established in His royal court.
In addition to the reference to a key or keys, note the following parallels:
Quote
"What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.†(Is. 22:22)
"Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.†(Mt. 16:19)
Jesus specifically referenced the passage from Isaiah when He appointed Peter to the office of Royal Steward granting him the authority to speak universally in His name. To do so faithfully, Peter could not teach error. God’s protection of His own flock by preventing the formal teaching of error in His name is referred to as “infallibilityâ€.
Therefore, if Jesus, our eternal king, established Peter as His first Royal Steward in a perpetual office, then despite Peter's death, don't Peter's successors, the Bishops of Rome, continue to serve in that office today?
My response was that I had no respect for him and a few other choice phrases and told him if he Pm'ed me again I would contact the mods. He sent me ANOTHER PM:
QuoteSure thing, Stromboli. No more PM's. You've been hurt badly...and now you're inoculated against the truth.
However, you might want to read the Early Church Fathers to get a better understanding of why Catholicism (and not one of the churches you tried) is all that it claims to be. Here's a good book:

My response was "kiss my ass, you stupid cunt"
He sent me ANOTHER (3rd) PM:

I would say that our boy Randy is here at least in part to antagonize and he certainly does not respect boundaries.
Wow. REPEATED disregard for your privacy by PM-ing you after being told not to do so.
Not cool.
I would like to say I was surprised. But I'm not. Repeater Randy is here as a troller on a mission of saving souls. He regards himself as a sort of martyr and endures the slings and arrows of misfortune as a tribulation he will endure for jebus. He loves the lawrd so much that he will endure agony to spread the word. Several of his posts tell us that. He isn't shy about it and will continue posting here as long a anybody answers him. That's why I told aitm that my end of the chew toy is all used up. He is just fucking totally insane and lost in his world of fiction that he will never ever be able to return to the land of the sane. He IS the poster child of why organized religions need to be destroyed for the good of humankind.
On a mission. Misguided, and mistaken, but still a mission.

Had enough experience with zealots of different stripes over the years, so nothing he does surprises me. He spews out his dialogue about how pure his heart is and how honest his intentions, but doesn't accept how corrupt and backward it is.
Randy has the same problem they all do. He needs to move out of the 19th century and into the 21st.

Sorry Mike, didn't read your post until after I posted. True story. People that are lost in their own fantasy are just as impossible to talk to as stupid people. What gets me is he will read this and just grin while he drools.
My sympathy, if you are in the grips of the Meshugunah ;-(

Yep--ain't that the truth!
I've stopped playing with those people when they come to my door. I just politely try to make them fear the entire neighborhood. It's amazing the number of people who will let those charlatans in. If it's any consolation, I've started reading this.

Please don't let him get to you. He'd be halfway in.
Those people bore me so I have better things to do with my time than to even think about trying to reason with them. I'd have a better chance of telling my pine workbench to grow up and become a mighty oak tree. I don't bother wasting my time with them.

Lol. Put 3 new topics relating directly to his beliefs right after that. I've been tied up with other stuff and haven't gotten into it with him like some people have. Why he chose me to PM I'll never get, but whatever. Don't know whether to just ignore him or fire a few broadsides. We'll see.
