Been a while since I saw someone beat to death with a book.

Joker has 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.  Looks like my first impressions were right and this is shaping up to be a great movie!

It's funny, when I saw suicide squad, I thought the joker had been ruined so badly that it'd take ages to recover.  Yet, a few short years later, here we are.

The absurdity of it all makes me want to laugh...

The Joker was so nondescript and unimportant in Suicide Squad, that I watched the movie three times before it dawned on me who this character was.  He just seemed like some guy without any special talents as a super villain, and I couldn't figure out why he was added to the squad.  Like maybe they just needed some guy that Harley Quinn could go ga ga over.  "Oh, wait!  He's the Joker?  WTF?"  Superman and Batman are DC's standbys.  When they try to expand their universe, things don't seem to work as well, with the exception of Wonder Woman.

Mooched off of my parents' Netflix account, and saw two movies with my brother.

1. Megamind - The trailer failed to capture my attention, so I initially dismissed it. But I heard from friends that it was a good movie, so I gave it a shot. I liked it. It was an interesting spin on the typical superhero vs supervillain story. Without giving away too much, imagine a supervillain who gets everything he wanted. What would he do with himself? That question is pretty much the basis of the entire movie. Pretty good. Would recommend.

2. Ralph Breaks the Internet - I hate lazy sequel cash grabs, either copy/pasting the previous movies or just having no reason to exist. When I heard about this movie, I was concerned it would turn out to be one of those, and I'd heard mixed reviews. Now that I've seen it, I'm like, "WTF? How did this get mixed reviews?" In my opinion, this sequel is even better than the first movie, and the first was pretty great. It's hilarious, and animated excellently. When the characters are in control of themselves, their movements are extremely lifelike. When characters are controlled by players in the real world, the way the characters jump and turn around looks just like how you'd expect them to move in an actual video game. The story also naturally builds off the story of the last one, focusing on the friendship of Ralph and Vanellope, with a theme of change and acceptance. High recommendation.

Red Joan, only watched because of Judith Dench(sp?) Not nearly as good as I hope and once again the sound levels made it difficult to follow the conversations, so much that I had no problem taking a RR break and not seemingly miss anything. Nice ending, truthful, she
saved the world by giving he russians the same weapons (a-bomb design) so all the biggies would not have a large war again
So she was basically a Rosenberg?

In my defense, it's got Margo Robbie.

Loved megamind, hoping Ralph 2 will be great too.
Thanks for giving me hope. Heard it wasn't good.

I loved Megamind!  You got a hint that he could have been a Good Guy from the start just bumped off course, but saw how he didn't and then finally was.

So she was basically a Rosenberg?
In the movie there was a scene where the british Pm I believe stated that Britain had to have the bomb before the yanks got it or "the bloody yanks will want to rule the world". Don't know how much truth is in that but in the mid 40's hell. And as far as the Rosenberg thing goes, at the time Russia was our ally as well, maybe not as trusting, but if your willing to sacrifice a few more million of your "allies" to prevent them from having the device, it's seems like another way to perpetuate a war only using everyone else to do the killing for you and set back and watch.
