I have seen Trump and Jesus Christ lumped together more and more lately. For me it is beyond understanding. Yet it seems to be gaining more and more steam. Trump has been portrayed as one who has accepted and carried the wrongs, sins against and pain causing persecution against christians for the rest of humanity.
This site is representative of a bunch of other sites I've seen:

I would be shocked and surprised, except this is religion and it has been known to make people crazy. Neither Trump nor White Nationalist Christianity are going away any time soon.
I became inured to MAGA antics long ago, so nothing they do either shocks or surprises me anymore. 🙀
We need a Paul Atreides to kill 61 Billion people to make shitheads like that never want to blindly follow another single individual again.

The story is about as real as Moses writing the Pentateuch.
At what point does "everything is a parody" just become everything being exactly what it looks like?

I have no idea. I mean, the standing ovation thing is obviously an unbelievable ending since that almost never happens in reality but then they say it was during a sermon where that sort of thing is plausible behavior, even with really ridiculous stuff. Especially with ridiculous stuff. So I give up.
A similar phenomenon is where someone in a community says something mildly problematic and clearly ridiculous as a joke and before long, they start attracting people who who genuinely believe such things - the butt of the joke summoned forth and eventually taking over rather than ridiculed and further marginalized.
This can happen not just with regressive social view "jokes' but also with conspiracy theory stuff and fringe scientific beliefs. I have to watch what I say more because of regressive numbskulls than any of the supposed joke-killing SJWs.

If it's one thing I know about eight-year-olds, it's that they just love politics.
It does make sense that people who buy into the xtian mythology would see trump as a christ figure.
Words attributed to the character named Jesus in Matthew 10:35-37:
QuoteFor I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, and a man's enemies will be the members of his household.
"Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
Demands for that kind of loyalty sound rather trumpish.

Being a late boomer myself, I gotta say, WTF happened? Probably the luckiest and most entitled generation in all of history and the legacy will be a dying eco-disaster of a planet and an anti-democratic, anti-institutional, anti-science ideology?
Yeah, and our only consolation is that when we're dead and gone we won't know or care about any of it.
