I wonder if anyone ever finds them and reads them. The staff probably just throws them away.

Or take them home and hide them in the barn so they can read them without getting caught. When I was in high school I gave scifi books to the preacher's daughter. She wasn't allowed to read that "vomit of Satan!" She left home the same day I did, the day after graduation. She joined the Marines, I joined the Navy. Neither of us joined a convent.

"Reconstruction" was the North's plan to "clean up the rebellious" after the Civil War. (Not overtly, but is was a subtext to helping the South recover.) Being "unreconstructed" was a badge of honor for the Lost Cause diehards.

My comment was about "grey", the colors of the Confederate Army. Cousins make a fuzz about anything grey.
