Aside from not wanting to serve, most young Americans are unfit even if they want to join.  I read an article on Military.com late last year that cited a recent study conducted by the Pentagon's office of personnel and readiness.  According to the study, 77 per cent of young Americans age 17-24 are unfit for military service due to factors such as being overweight, drug and alcohol abuse, or having mental or physical health problems.

Believing the war with Russia ended when the Soviet Union fell has the potential to go down as the biggest mistake in American history due to the sheer geo-political implications it will have if we lose it.
