Quote from: "Graceless"Virgin birth of a male child doesn't happen in mammals, but is possible in certain animals that use different sex chromosomes. For instance, lizards use a ZW chromosomal system that is reversed compared to the mammalian XY system: ZW codes for "female", and ZZ codes for "male". So if a female lizard reproduces, it could pass down ZZ to some of its children, even without the introduction of genetic material from a mate.

The only reasonable conclusion is that Jesus was secretly a komodo dragon.

It can be done genetically, but not in the wild. Maybe the devil is a Komodo Dragon?      Solitary
There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.

Graceless

Okay, Jesus was a genetically engineered Komodo Dragon.

Hell, add in some lightsaber duels and the New Testament becomes almost readable.
My goals: Love, tolerate, and understand.

Quote from: "Solitary"Jesus was really Mary.
Jesus is Mary.
Beyond the virgin birth concept, the reason for that is really there seems to be no 'gods' but just a goddess as also mentioned in your OP. No male character of her sort, and her lover and son is the same only males.
Jesus had to be born of a virgin because the "sky-godlet" myth has the sky-godlet being born of a virgin.  Mithra, Osiris, Jesus - they're all the same base myth, with the local religion added on, so Osiris was the Egyptian version, Mithra was the Persian version and Jesus was the Hebrew version.  The minor details change based on the local religion, but the main theme remains the same.  Born of a virgin, killed and brought back to life, etc.
Afflicting the comfortable for 70 years.
