I'm still waiting for a zombie movie where people are actively denying the zombies' existence even as they're being torn apart by a group of them.

In The Walking Dead comic books, one character willingly walks up to the zombies to be devoured.  It was played as tragic and sad and terrifying in the comic when in real life, it'd either be unremarkable or they'd be weirdly lauded for their "principled" politically-orthodox stance.

Just finished watching Redneck Roots, a pretty funny story about, well, rednecks. Don't know any of the actors, but they did a good job.

Rednecks come from being out in the sun to work a farm.

Yeah, a radio guy in the movie encouraged his listeners to wear plenty of sunscreen because the region had enough rednecks already. 🤣

This has to be one of my favorite movie scenes ever. Musical prodigy is fascinating. My sweetheart has a classical background in music. A rock band auditioned him a few weeks ago. He just nailed it (including that long piano solo from "Riders on the Storm" by The Doors. He found the sheet music online.) Afterwards they mentioned that he knew their songs better than they do and they have been playing many of them since High School.

Didn't that emperor guy play in Howard the Duck? 🦆

Oh, I think he may have played in Beetlejuice as well.

Just finished watching The Contract, with Morgan Freeman and John Cusack. As per his usual, Morgan Freeman (who's been making movies since 1964) was very good. And John Cusack was awesome as well.

Cusack is normally pretty good but I didn't make it through "The Raven".

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a rating of 22% based on 141 reviews, with an average rating of 4.6/10. The site's critics consensus states: "Thinly scripted, unevenly acted, and overall preposterous, The Raven disgraces the legacy of Edgar Allen [sic] Poe with a rote murder mystery that's more silly than scary.

I've never seen The Raven. I guess I didn't miss anything.

Confession: I actually really enjoy movies that don't have this "clean" aesthetic, like The Lighthouse or Joker.  Even scifi, where this sort of aesthetic would work best to highlight a futuristic society, I don't particularly like it.

Imagine if this dusty, blocky machine looked like a flawless white iPod.  Would that improve the film?  Hell no.  In fact, the wear and tear is a big ol' hint to the movie's big reveal.
