The same Koch brothers who failed in their 1980 attempt to take over the LP and having failed to do so founded CATO and now turn their attention to the Tea Party and not the LP?  Those Koch brothers?  The ones who were ultimately rejected by the LP are the ones you say are the puppet masters of the LP?  Perhaps you ought to learn a little about the LP before you say such interesting things.

Yeah, the same Koch Brothers that *CURRENTLY* fund the rightwing LP, whether your ignorant ass knows it or not. Why don't you look at who actually funds a candidate before you vote for them?

It might surprise you to learn a president or PM or leader of any nation while generally elected by one side or the other still is responsible for governing for the entire population and not just for the factions who voted for them.
Obama is not the president of only Democrats, but also Republicans and everyone in between like it or not so a certain amount of consensus from both sides has to be taken into account.
As far as the money it's naive to think any party, Democrats in particular should rely on only unions and not accept money from corporations when doing do would instantly bury them especially in light of the CU decision handed down by SCOTUS.
Go ahead and bury your heads in the sand and demand party purity and think you're voting for saints, but you'll be woefully disappointed.  The notion that a 3rd party will govern any different or be immune from any sort of corruption is naive to say the least. No, the parties are NOT the same, but we do all live in one nation within the US borders.

I'm thinking the pattern may break this next cycle. Rick Santorum might have been appealing for the GOP party brass in 2012, but considering the Republican shift on immigration and his record thereof, it would take a lot of retrofitting to make him a suitable candidate this time around.

Sadly, despite being elected in a year divisible by 20, Dudya didn't die in office. So that's another chain broken.
