Try water next time. That will actually quench your thirst. Coke won't stop you feeling thirsty.

Quote from: "Brian37"Damn it John, who is talking about a ban? You cant legally drive a monster truck as wide as a freeway down the free way, that is why we have standard size vehicles that are not wider than the lanes they drive in.

And how would limiting the size of the soda or the amount of sugar in it be a ban? We also cant sell porn to children or beer to minors.

This is the same reaction car companies had to Nader when he pointed out how unsafe cars were. But after car companies pulled their heads out of their asses and regulation forced them to make safer cars, they learned they could make that a selling point.

So why cant a beverage company use that same marketing and innovation to make more healthy products? There is a difference between cant, and don't want to.

When the personal intake of unhealthy food or drink harms someone else, your comparisons might be valid.

Interesting. I was under the impression it contained far too much sugar and salt to be able to deal with thirst properly. (Although it might be a factor of how much you drink, of course. I suppose at some point even coke with get thirch quenching abilities, but you'll probably need to drink a lot of it?)

If it is attached-to, promoted-by or endorsed-by/for/around Sarah Palin........given it's an idea, a product or a random thought, theory or practice........ run.   Run in the other direction.

Sarah Palin is the poster child of politico, lemon-scented buttwash and Blague-BabyBoom-Backbiter-Barbie if there ever was one.

I am currently experiencing life at several WTFs per hour.

can you blame them for not wanting to? Let's see I can make this sugar drink that will sell like crack or I can make this health drink that will sell like a do it yourself root canal kit. Hmmm..... I think I'll make the shit that sells. Can you blame them?

Your car analogy isnt really valid. Drinking a soda doesn't put you at direct risk of injury or death. It might make you unhealthy if you drink it excessively. But that is not at all equivalent to the risks you're exposed to by operating an automobile. Cars need safety devices. Soda does not.

This to me is like the people who just oppose anything Obama is for just because its Obama.

no you should accept an idea or reject it based on its own merits, not by who does or does not support it.

Yes........ we should be cool and tackle things by subject (or fact) and not by the person (insert Sarah).........

I like her. she and her ilk are ruining the GOP brand. LOL! the more wackos like her get amplified, the worse things get for the GOP.

and the sooner they see their demise, the sooner progressives can rise up and crush conservatism once and for all.

So here's to more Bachmanns and Tod akins and Palins and other people who just got off the train from crazy town. may your brand be ever tied to the GOP.

I welcome it, and the GOP going the way of the whigs.

Well, then you've not caught on to my evil, wicked plan, yet.   See...... the more we whine and complain and hate on Palin the more the right-ers will worship and follow, promote her.  Thus I help implement the very thing you wish for:  More wack-jobs in the GOP.

The wackier the better= Till they look pathetic to their own party.  So far so good.  Like this:

QuoteThe remarks came at the Conservative Political Action Conference outside Washington. Looking ahead to the 2016 presidential election, McConnell quipped, "Don't tell me Democrats are the party of the future when their presidential ticket for 2016 is shaping up to look like a rerun of the 'Golden Girls.'"

Her voice drives me up the wall.  I'd rather jam broken pencils into my eardrums than listen to an entire speech of hers.

She's one of the stupidest people I've ever seen in politics. Practically everything she says makes me want to crawl into a cave and weep for humanity. (Even so, she's Einstein compared to Louie Gohmert and Alvin Greene.)

Quote from: "hillbillyatheist"I pretty much disagree with this woman on almost everything but am I the only one that finds it petty to be attacking her on this issue?

For the record I drink like 8 coke Zero's a day. I even wrote a song about it.

If I hit a convenience store I go for the big gulps.

fuck Bloomberg. on this one issue I pretty much have to side with Palin.

the new york coke ban is just fucking stupid and wrong.

what do you think?
If Sarah Palin did it or endorsed it, you can bet she is wrong.
so when she advocates for helping kids with mental problems, she wrong because she's Palin? thats just as stupid as people that just automatically dismiss something because Obama is for it. its this kind of attitude that makes me weep for humanity.

QuoteBloomberg is right and was right to help the poor people in the city by banning large suger drinks. It's much more than an issue of socalled freedom. It is a health issue. You go to any poor part of any major city and what is avalible is nothing but fat filled suger foods.
so should we ban weed, cigarettes, beer, and candy too?

QuoteThat and advertizing these dangerous foods. Bloomberg was pushing back against the food industry that brainwashes the populace to buying their addictive unhealthy foods and drinks. Bloomberg is fighting against the pushers of these bad foods. So Sarah is wrong and her idea of freedom is nothing more than allowing big business to dictate to the masses and control us all in the name of profits.
nobody is forcing people to eat and drink unhealthy shit. when Coca-cola starts hog tying people and forcing Dr. Pepper down their throats, get back to me.

QuotePlus Sarah's little smug smarming attitude is just so childish it isn't even funny.
agreed.

anyway as I've said, I think the solution is subsidize health foods and have them very low cost, and easily available, then put taxes on unhealthy foods to offset costs of the health care issues they cause, like we do with smoking. done.

past that the government has no business forcing people to eat healthy. what's next? exercise police to come make you jog?
1. I never said anything about kids with mental disease so don't interject something that ISN'T part of the thread.
2. I also said that "MOST LIKELY if palin endorsed it it is wrong. No automatic decission there. Shes not wrong because shes palin, shes wrong because shes wrong.
3. Coke doesn't own Dr.Pepper! The Food Industry has for years actually forced people to eat and drink their sugery fatty foods. They have put their crap in schools and removed healthy choices for years until recent pushbacks from the public. They have used subliminal messeging and brainwashing advertizing to get us hooked on their addictive crap. So a form of hogtying already exist.
"anyway as I've said, I think the solution is subsidize health foods and have them very low cost, and easily available, then put taxes on unhealthy foods to offset costs of the health care issues they cause, like we do with smoking. done." This I totally agree with!
