I just finished watching a fun movie with a great cast.
Last Vegas!
It had Deniro, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Kline and Michael Douglas. Oh, and Mary Steenburgen!
About some old guys who wanted to throw a bachelor party for the one (Michael Douglas) who was getting married to a lady half his age.
Best one I've seen for a while.

I went out and watched Five Night's At Freddy's.  Worth a watch imo.

Let's just say that I have a theory about the cameos...

And although it kinda dragged at the beginning, I was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out.  It ticked off most of my boxes and added an additional layer of intrigue - lucid dreaming and not just that - we're talking about HP Lovecraft Randolph Carter type dreaming, where the boundaries between dream and reality are significantly blurred.  This Freddy is not all that different from another Freddy...

At times, it's surprisingly heartwarming and at times, deeply unsettling.  I'm particularly unsettled by the idea that you don't necessarily have to visit the Pizzeria to encounter them.

Though I wish it was just a tad more creepy/suspenseful like the video game and went more into the kids' tragic past (anyone up for Midnight Motorist?) especially the Crying Child.

The villain was fantastic, though.  I'd love to see him come back.

The mauritanian.

Pretty damn good.

Never heard of it before.
Nor knew the particularly story.

Tropic Thunder was a lot of fun. Had an all-star cast:
Ben Stiller
Robert Downey Jr
Jack Black
Tom Cruise
Nick Nolte
Matthew McConaughey
John Voight
Martin Lawrence
Hollywood making fun of itself!
If I hadn't read the cast list I would never have recognized Tom Cruise! 🤩

I recognized Tom Cruise. My ex-wife didn't believe me, but after a couple minutes she relented.

I just watched the new top gun movie. Really sucked hard on the cash-cow-teats of the first one, so even more predictable; but it was still pretty OK, if you like to get 'the feels', I guess. That idea that everyone knows better than the big general is so common in our society. From the electronic techs in my company to the air condition repair guy...they all should all be the boss for just a week a get a dose of reality.

Hydra009

I just watched Angry Joe and company tear into Five Night's At Freddy's so I feel the need to clarify my take on it.

This movie is not a masterpiece by any means and the actual horror is pretty toned down, obviously to keep it PG-13 because let's face it, it has a fairly young demographic.  Though they should be able to ramp it up in future installments.

Also, the B plot of the film is neither inherently exciting nor done well and it takes up a LOT of runtime.  I mean, it'd be pretty good as an Outer Limits episode, but not for a feature film.

Though I will defend the need for a B plot - every single character in this franchise is damaged in some way and the main theme of this franchise is dealing with traumatic loss.  So yeah, you're going to have characters whose noodles are already al dente before they've even laid eyes on Freddy.  So you have to be patient about getting to the main attraction, so to speak.

That said, this movie doesn't really have much draw as a stand-alone horror movie (it can't hold a candle to heavy-hitters like The Exorcist), which is how critics approached it, but it was decently entertaining as an extended cutscene for FNAF fans who have already played the games, which is how viewers approached it.  Hence the wide gulf between critics and audience.

It being pg13 actually explains to me why they took the route they did with cgi over actual animatronics.

Haven´t watche it, just seen trailers. Nor did I play the games, though I know what they are like.

Not using actual animatronics seemed like an odd call. You can get much scarier with those.

I saw a trailer, that's about all I need.

But they...did use real animatronics. Sometimes it's people in costumes, but they used practical effects.

Oh really? Looked like cgi in the trailers, but that will be my bad.

Maybe I am mixing some things up? Could have sworn it looked cgi.

Glad to hear it though: if ever a movie had to have practical effects...

Still won´t go see it, probably, though.

I just watched The Rob Squad do a reaction video about The Truman Show, which I've never seen. Then YouTube put it up for me to see, so now I'm watching it! I already knew the basic plot, having seen commercials for it over the years, and I'm looking forward to seeing Jim Carey play Truman.
But first I have to watch The Mark Thompson Show, which used to be on KGO until the station got switched to all sports, all the time.

Yeah. From what I've heard, the set designers went to great lengths to make the experience as immersive as possible. I don't think they used CGI at all, but I could be wrong. The problem with the movie has more to do with its writing. Its tone is kinda...off. It never really gets scary. It's pretty much what you'd expect, considering its target audience is mainly children. They're not going to make a rated R horror film and alienate most of their audience. I think they were probably aiming for a Goosebumps type of experience.

Found a movie I saw once, decades ago, called The Challenge.
Stars Darren McGavin. Also has James Whitmore, Sam Elliott, and Mako. I didn't know who Mako was then, but I've seen him in several things since.
Not a bad flick as war movies go.

Okay...maybe it wasn't that great of a movie lol.  FNAF has always been one of those things that requires that you ignore a lot of stuff in the name of the Rule of Cool.
