Is thinking about the Roman Empire a thing?

Yeah, it's the guy equivalent of true crime podcasts.  Not that it has to be gendered, that's just generally how it is.

History is a subject with a lot of popular fascination, and the Roman Empire is basically the most well-documented history thing ever before WWII.  Plus, there have been a bunch of really good film and TV adaptations.  My personal favorite: HBO's Rome.

Interesting.

Does this mean I'm gender non-binary since I don't give a shit about either the Roman empire or true crime podcasts.

Also, if you join the aliens, you'll get your own flying mount, have a loving family, and you won't ever have to endure a boring meeting or an insufferable boss ever again.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to be ableist and sexist towards people and then threaten their lives for literally no reason.  Hoo-rah!

Very convenient that every intelligent alien race out there looks like us. Imagine if one if we found intelligent aliens and they were more like octopi. ...Actually, scratch that. Some people would be into that too.

In tv/film, it has typically been waaay easier to use human actors over non-human actors.  Though CGI has changed that somewhat.  So consider rubber-forehead aliens more of a storytelling convention than a factual claim.

So... I don't know how much flack to give them about that. There is such a thing as convergent evolution, so it may not be so unreasonable to think that an intelligent species would be similar to us. Until we actually find alien life, it would hard to know that. I think for an intelligent species like us to evolve, however, it has to be able to easily manipulate tools, or else it would be pretty limited in what it could do. So they'd probably have hands or something similar to them. At least initially. It's also possible that an intelligent species that is way ahead of the game compared to us might have evolved past the need for tools.

But even if convergent evolution created species like us, they probably wouldn't be THAT much like us. Their evolutionary history likely would have taken them a very different route to get to a similar result. Would they have two sexes like we do? Probably. That seems to make the most sense for reproduction, so evolution would probably develop that anywhere life develops. Would their females have boobs? Ehh... Doubtful. Even most mammals don't have anything resembling human boobs. We're pretty unique in that regard. Would they have skin? Maybe. Or maybe they'd have scales. Hair? Maybe something resembling it, since that would be good for both preserving or dispelling heat, allowing them to live in a wide variety of climates like we do.

I personally find it doubtful that any intelligent life form we find out there would look desirable to us. They might look vaguely human, but they'd probably be very strange looking to us. They'd probably be looking at us lightly-haired apes like, "Ugh! What is that? Gross!"

There are plenty of exceptions to that among animals and even mammals so I don't think it'd be that cut-and-dry.

Strip monopoly, how does that even work?!  You can't possibly create a reasonable rent/strip ratio!
