Pretty good so far, but I haven't yet finished it.
Well?

Asteroid City:  Director Wes Anderson is an acquired taste, I suppose.  I loved Moonrise Kingdom, so I started following him. Nothing yet rises to that level in my opinion.  But I can't NOT watch his films. I end up trying to decide whether it's worth it or not.  I'll see his next one too.  I can't look away.

Wow, that was intense! Great acting, great plot, great action, great suspense. 😎

Clearly, there was none of that. The point is that there is no point. There are probably other sub points as well, but I'm still searching for those. It's like looking at a Jackson Pollock painting, but without having any visceral response.

I just finished watching Sunset, with Bruce Willis, James Garner, Malcolm McDowell and others. I thought at first it was going to be a western, but it turned out otherwise.
It was very enjoyable.

No, just Sunset. It was about Wyatt Earp consulting on a movie about himself, and his friendship with Tom Mix. It was a completely fictionalized account, based on a true story.

I just finished watching Stone of Destiny, about a group of Scottish students who broke into Westminster Abby to "steal" the Stone that was stolen by the English in 1296.

Based on a true story, it was a very good movie!

Hydra009

While I think this might be a decently faithful adaptation at best and don't particularly have high hopes, it could be a decent popcorn flick for Halloween.  Personally, I think that Afton learned how to cheat death by fusing human souls to inanimate metal, but something went awry.  But that's just a theory, a film theory...

That is literally the game lore. The animatronics are powered by "remnant," which are the memories of the dead that are somehow extracted as a physical material. They can also be possessed by agony. It seems that when someone dies in the FNaF universe, their soul is split into multiple parts, with memories, emotions, and pain being distinct things that can exist independently and possess physical objects to give them sentience. In this way, it's possible for what was one person to possess multiple things, if your agony is injected into one thing and your remnant is injected into something else.

As for the movie, it doesn't look like it would appeal to me. We already have video game canon, meta video game canon that treats the original game canon as at least partial fiction, and book canon, and now it looks like the movie is doing its own thing too. The lore is just a complete mess at this point.

Edit: Well, technically speaking, it's not the soul itself per say, but objects apparently absorb remnant and agony from the people around them. If there's a tragedy somewhere, objects in that location may contain agony that can be extracted. It's implied that this creates the illusion of haunted objects, although the distinction seems pretty superficial. Whether an animatronic is possessed by a soul or remnants of a person's memories, it's still a supernatural thing giving sentience to a physical object.

Vainly begot, and yet forbidden vanity,

The boat

A rather unique horror movie that works on suspense more than anything else.
Really clicked for me, on of the better horror movies i've seen of late; discomforting rather than trying for an actual scare.

8.5/10

That is the one, yes.
I had seen people generally liked it less than i did.
Still, clicked for me.

Not seen it. Boss Lady's call on scary. She's not seen the shit I have so I let her pick 'em. I sit quietly, dentures grinding at times.

Well, in any case, it has zero gore, if that is something to win her over.
