Having done genealogy as a Mormon, I'm somewhat skeptical, but not surprised. Being like six times removed or more is only barely related at best. I'm theoretically related to Sir Francis Drake, but only because my ancestry is Welsh, and it is a small country. Don't forget we all supposedly came from a mitochondrial eve and a y chromosome adam, so at some point we are all related.

Practically everyone is 11th or so cousins with everyone else.  So, it wouldn't shock me if this were true.  You're probably 9th cousins with Brad Pitt, too.
