A successful conviction in the Senate, could be used to push a subsequent civll suit.  That is available also, not just criminal indictment.  But when are all the known indictable offenses going to drop on the Dems?  The Obama administration (like the previous one) is guilty of war crimes before The Hague.  Those are more serious than the domestic abuses.

I thought pardons could only be granted after a person has been found guilty pf the crime they're being pardoned for. If so, how could Ford have pardoned Nixon? Was that a legal pardon?

i recall that Presidential pardon is unlimited in power.  It was contested over Nixon for the reasons you mentioned.  So yes, you can't pardon yourself, but a subsequent President (current VP) could pardon him, just as Ford did for Nixon.

The only difference between the Republicans and Trump is that Trump says out loud in public what Republicans used to say behind closed doors or in public using dog-whistle language.

Wow, SCOTUS has just ruled in favor of Trump - he can now re-appropriate money from the military to build his wall. Congress used to have the power of the purse - no longer the case. The US has taken one more step towards a banana republic.
