You have an elite European education?  So yes, the culture here is very different, in spite of MSM worldwide dominance of the narrative.  That narrative BTW started to die 20 years ago thanks to social networking and alternative media on the Internet.  Americans are famously informal (compared to UK) and gauche (compared to France).  We are superficially friendly.  In Europe and periphery, UK and France are long time go-tos for culture.  Not so in the US.  I am told that in Turkish culture, if you are lucky enough to become a friend, you basically become part of their extended family.  Not so in the US.

America means all the things you mentioned.  We have a civic religion (if one is patriotic) that allowed religious tolerance.  This was created by the solidarity/hurt from our domestic wars (American Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War) and by our large foreign wars (WW I and WW II).  Since 1945, war has been more controversial, though often used for failed solidarity (reasoning of LBJ, George H W Bush, George W Bush).  Korea was an accidental exception.  The external pressure of the Cold War kept us more together, but that is gone.  The "War on Terror" has run its bloody course.

Yes, Americans hate their government (depending on which party is in power at the moment).  Sheeple love their government regardless.  Real Americans (not many of us) aren't sheeple.  That is why in England y'all have been combining human DNA and sheep DNA for over a decade.  I am not anti-government or anti-vaccine.  I recognize that the government is a cluster-f no matter who is running it.  I am anti-poorly-tested-medicine.  Since Covid is an emergency, they want to test the vaccines on a very short timeline (not test on mice first), that isn't approved by doctors, but is approved by vaccine salesmen.
