Bear proof baby! Even zombies can't chew through it. 3,678$ on E-bay. As soon as I get this old sherman tank tuned up I'm just going to drive over them untill the gas runs out, then walk through the rest with my axe and hand grenades.
I might even take a nap while they chew on my arm.....yawn. |
Yes! I read about that a few months ago, and I thought I was the only person in the world to notice. No one seemed to say crap about it, and yet that thing looks like it OWNS!
I wouldn't use it against zombies though, it has several gaps in the backs of joints, which is are very blood vessel rich areas. Since zombies have an overdeveloped sense of smell, they would find those gaps PDQ, and that armor would just end up slowing you down, albeit not much though.
Now, if buddy can work out some armor that doesn't have any gaps, then we'll be cookin with gas! _________________ Namaste,

hope they don;t dog-pile you.... O_o
it would suck to be smothered to death in that thing or, even worse, die of thirst/hunger while pinned by the Zack.

I have the image of something surrounded by cow catcher style attachments. This would keep them from being able to board, or stop the vehicle with almost any effectiveness.
We may also have to tread the wheels, or get extra large tires. Not monster trucking, that's just over kill, but definitely something bigger then normal. Dig the one on the right.

I like the idea of a cow-catcher...
Big, off-road type wheels and chassis is a good idea, too. your body is physically up and away AND you should be able to roll over most shambling masses of ghouls. The only flaw i see is, perhaps, their limbs (sinew, bone, dried skin and muscle) gumming up the axle, wheel, shocks, and/or drive-train. AT least you'd be up out of their reach for a bit.
Zack don't climb too good, if at all. _________________ -=The Believer is Happy; the Skeptic is Wise=-

I worry about AIM, though. at least with shot, you get a spray, a cone of damage. a slug is a hit or miss proposition.
you gotta nail 'em RIGHT in the noggin' you're you're just gonna slow 'em down for a sec, if that. _________________ -=The Believer is Happy; the Skeptic is Wise=-

That's why you have the big ass tires and suspension, to keep that stuff raised. They can't jump or climb too well, so the catchers don't need to be that high. So long as the top of the catchers are below axle level, it should be "all good". You'll also be able to mow through a crowd of 'em with almost no problem at all. _________________ Namaste,

thats true... hmm... maybe keep some swivel-mounted pikes on the front, so that you can knock off any still-climbing upper-torsos that latch onto the catcher and start grasping towards the cab.
Heh.. it would look a little like giant, cab-controlled curb feelers! lol...
of course, have several secure and unbreakable escape hatches in the cab (top, back, sides, bottom), too. all reinforced (wire mesh or bullet-proof) glass in place of ALL windows. maybe gun slits, too. _________________ -=The Believer is Happy; the Skeptic is Wise=-

Close range? Ya damn skippy I want a sawed off!
The power of a shotgun to obliterate head is over estimated by Hollywood. If you get them in the face at 5' or less, then you have a good chance of getting a good enough hail to spray brain all over the place. However, if you're 10' away, you're not doin much to them at all except makin 'em more ugly. This is especially true with a sawed off because they disburse the shot even wider. Sawed off's are great if you're in a house, and buddy's comin at you down a hall, but it's not very good at all for out doors, or almost ANY range other then close.
A slug has enough spread that if you he 'em anywhere near the shoulder, the head's likely comin off, and they're cooked. _________________ Namaste,

Yeah, i'm not even concerned with popping Zack heads UNLESS they're right on top of me.. otherwise, i'd just avoid the fuckers. To me, there's no use in even investing in long or medium -range weapons. As a solo-survivor, or part of a small, mobile group of survivors, i think i'd rather have a 'path-clearer'.
Although, a nice, powerful, silenced pistol would be good, too. No *BLAM* to alert the other G's. _________________ -=The Believer is Happy; the Skeptic is Wise=-

All ya need is a few pellets to penetrate into the brain and, viola, one less shambling G. |
For how many? |
for as many heavy, bulky shells as one can carry. |
How long does it take to reload? Because I want you to come with me so you can be a distraction as I make my escape. |

your escape into what? a choke point full of Zack? kinda makes you wish you had a weapon capable of clearing a path, huh? _________________ -=The Believer is Happy; the Skeptic is Wise=-
