Has anyone tried picketing the picketers? Perhaps take gay porn pictures and put a cut out of Mr. Phelp's face in place of the pornstar's face? Posters (properly censored/blurred) of Mr. Phelp's receiving a gay golden shower perhaps? Might not accomplish anything, but might be fun.

afaik no. they just have to be 150feet away. As long as they are 150feet away... they can do what they want.
Now in Canada... if a group of people want to picket a funeral... they have every right to do so... the moment they start calling for genocide of or partial genocide of a group... they are illegal.

In theory thats a good idea, but will it work? Their whole shtick is to be such a nuisance that they CAN'T be ignored. If they're screaming and yelling, using a megaphone or noisemakers, how do you just block it out? Or are there already rules about noise? I'm aware they have to keep a certain distance away but its not that far, is it?
As for clicking on their links, clicking or not clicking, how does that affect anything? Don't respond and don't look at them... yeah, thats what I would do. But as I just said, I don't think they'd go away even if not one single person looked in their direction.
With your standard troll, yeah, just ignore them long enough and they go away. These Westboro folks strike me as super-ultra-mega trolls. I'm just not sure conventional tactics will do a damn thing.

Your idea does sound fun. I am surprised that more people haven't united to have "fun" at them. Michael Moore shut them down twice with a very "fun" idea.
