I'm re-posting the introductory note I put in the old forum:

Hi all...

I'm a new mod in this area - just let you know a little of my background:

Trained at University of Queensland (Australia) as an Electrical Engineer, specialising in Electronics and Communications - which requires a reasonably solid grasp of the physical sciences.

Have continued to follow many areas of science thru a long term subscription to New Scientist magazine, as well as the odd copy of other science and technology magazines.

Done a lot of computer programming in the later part of my life, which requires a firm grasp of logic and maths, especially in the sort of programming I have done.

Read a little philosophy, starting in the first real sense with Bertrand Russell. Love the stance of Richard Dawkins, Dan Dennett, in particular. Really empathised with a friend of Dawkins you may have heard of, author Douglas Adams.

On the main theme of this site, never taken the God hypothesis seriously, in any form.

Sampled more countries, cultures and natural environments than most people, from Antarctica, the African game parks, the Namib desert, the Nile and the Pyramids, the Great Wall, the Terra-Cotta warriors, the Mekong Delta, Angkor Wat, Red Square on New Years Eve, Samarkand, Siberia, London, Pisa and Florence. Not to brag, but it does give one a chance to get a damn good feel for the variety and reality of the planet...

Oh, how could I forget to mention Disneyland at Anaheim, the Grand Canyon, and the WTC Towers...
