Was Catholic Hitler "Anti-Christian"?

On the Trail of Bogus Quotes

An interesting article dealing with the supposed quotes from Hitler's Table Talk.

It seems that many of the quotes in English are bogus!

I know this is bumping an ancient post but I don't care.

Hitler said whatever he had to say to get people to support him. Since many Nazis were Christians, he had to get them to go along with his plan. However, he was also trying to get the whole German identity thing going, so he set himself up as a god.

Given that he was trying to have his cake and eat it too, I don't think we can really know for sure what his religion was. I'm also not sure why anyone should care.

All you can do is read his writtings, speeches and statements. His family was Catholic. He was raised one. He latter attacked the RCC when it spoke out against him.

Take a few monents to read Todangst essay on Hitler and Martin Luther.

Mein Kampf should be required reading, IMHO. It clearly says, in no uncertain terms, in multiple places, that he considered himself to be a Catholic. Hell, the NAZI party received blessings from Pope Pius XII.

Also, I think it's vital to point out the quote on the Nazi's belt buckles. it read... "gott mit uns" which means, "god with us." I find this pretty absurd. If they had an atheist underlying message on their belt buckles a christian would raise it up in any theological debate probably from the beginning.
However, if you bring this up when discusses Hitler's religion with anyone all they have to say is they weren't really Christians because Christians wouldn't do such things. How retarded to say. It must be nice to belong to a belief where you can say that anyone that commits really evil atrocities isn't TRULY a part of that religion.
