if the people will get in their cars and drive who knows how far to go meet a person they believe is 13 or whatever, they need to go to jail.
is it any less wrong to use sting operations on hookers?
this show is awesome.
it's the only way to stop them before they actually do damage, rather than wait until he molests your kid, then if the kid tells someone and they may or may not catch him, and if they do catch him, they may or may not be able to put him in prison.
i wish they would keep making the show anyway.
that's one less child molester.

I think one of the funniest things about it is the fact that these dudes think that they're going to meet a 13-14 year old and have sex with them. When I was 13 I knew that I shouldn't be giving my address out on the internet and that 40 year old men trying to talk to me were sick and fucked up.
I know that people of all ages do stupid shit but come on! Teens giving their addresses to horny balding rednecks deserve to get fondled.

No crime took place, one of those men might have showed up at the door step to warn the parents what a dipshit they were raising! COPS should and ARE doing that. They pop the sting too soon. Once a child is actually in danger THEN nail the scum bag.
even if they meet, he might change his mind, he may be no more of a threat than your grandpa.
Baiting should be illegal.

he may not have gone through with it at the last second. but he went through the entire talking process, planned out the meeting, obviously waited until a time when the parents weren't home, drove all the way there, walked to the door, and was disappointed when the kid closed the door.
you've seen what he would have been doing, given a real opportunity.
is that a person you'd want living next door to you?

I also see your point. Take it to the next extreme. Some one wants to take a hit out on some one. As soon as the money crosses hands yes, same with hookers. (Though I see no reason hooking is a crime to begin with).
Yet there are cops out there baiting some one who may or MAY NOT be actually looking for a kid to molest.
It's like leaving your wallet sticking out of your pants with a 100$ bill sticking out of it. Some one that may not have been out to steal your wallet sees something they might not have otherwise been out to do.
I'll admit it is a fine line. Like other hot topics on AF.
The solution is not bullshit stings. It is actively educating children and taking irresponsible parents by the short hairs and smacking them into reality.
Our ENTERTAINMENT should not be a factor.

true, but what you're saying is that flashing the $100 bill would possibly convince a person to steal it.
if the opportunity of having sex with a child is enough to convince a person to do it, they are a child molester, and need counseling. if that doesn't work, they should be moved far away from kids. (prison)
also true, hooking shouldn't really be illegal, but then again, neither should a lot of other things that are illegal.
these people want to live here, they should obey the laws and live with the consequences for the ones they don't follow, or live somewhere else.
part of the show may be entertainment, but the overall message seems to be more educational. it's like a "these are the people you should stay away from on the internet, and this is how far they will go, and this is how they try to justify it when they are caught" message rather than a "look how many fat idiots we can trick on tv."

haha yeah i guess
for some of them (maybe not all) just arresting them, talking to them, and scaring the shit out of them could be enough for them never to do it again.
but probably most of them will just be more careful the next time they're talking to someone they think is 13, since they admitted that they believed the person they were talking to was a 13 year old kid and still went.
still, i don't think it was the show's fault for the guy killing himself.
he was probably depressed after being caught trying to have sex with a kid.
