I hate this site though. I feel like the questions are biased and many questions require more complex answers. Personally, I support free enterprise (for firms that are completely privately-held), but consider corporations to be a state-supported form of business, so I was divided when questions brought up corporations (unnecessarily, IMO). And, say, "There are no savage and civilised peoples; there are only different cultures." Well, of course there are different cultures, but there are also entire cultures (generally small ones) that lack education. And use of the words "savage" and "civilized" is a setup. Also, the abstract art question (along with some others) is retarded. It plainly has no relevance to politics and basically seems to be there due to stereotypes about the left, unless it's a control question or something.
I realize the FAQ addresses this stuff, but I still think the test sucks. The compass itself is all right, but it seems like a direct ripoff of the Nolan Chart. I'm not impressed. _________________

I found it to be biased as well. It didn't seem like they really grasped the whole socialist perspective, that's why I think it's a little ridiculous that I am so far left. As an example, the question on rich people being taxed too much. Clearly if you picked strongly disagree that would shoot you to the left... but hell, liberals/moderates could just as easilly think that the rich aren't taxed enough at all. I'd rather see some questions on public ownership, ownership of land, etc... then I assure you I'd be much more to the middle. _________________

Of course the questions are biased, and some are not even answerable honestly. The way I looked at it, the questions seemed to be designed to get a certain type of response depending on what your politics already were.
The real problem to me is that everyone is going to answer the questions based on how he wants to think of his own politics. In what sense is it a test then?
Was anybody surprised by his results? I certainly wasn't. _________________ K Michau

I was, but I would of be surprized no matter what it said.
I'm sure if I took it again I'd get a different score. |

Sure it's a crappy test! How long did it take you, 5 minutes? It's not like it was an essay Honestly, it could be much better. However, I'm guessing most people are at least placed in the correct quadrant. _________________ "If we long to believe that the stars rise and set for us, that we are the reason there is a Universe, does science do us a disservice in deflating our conceits?"

I really am a lot like the Dalai Lama, an insufferable pedant that talks just slightly too soft so it's annoying. _________________ K Michau

Yeah, I'm fairly satisfied with where I am on the chart. I just hate how, for all the site's emphasis on a "new" system of political classification, the questions themselves oversimplify the issues, and seem to be aimed at caricatures of left and right. |

ME!
This is like the third time I've zipped through the test, and some of the questions still make me wonder if I should click "strongly disagree" if I think the question dosn't make sense. _________________ "-- Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than

Much more leaning to the right than I was previously, which doesn't suprise me. I've been slowly gravitating rightward these past few months.

I am an Anarcho-Capitalist too, this test is off by a lot. I shouldn't be this close to the middle. Right and left is right where I would mark myself though. The authority question is stupid, it should just say "do you think you should question government's authority?", not just authority in general. Authority could be parents, your boss, or anyone.
EDIT:
| Quote: | | Likewise, authoritarian régimes frequently attack highly imaginative and unconventional art, music and literary works as a threat to the rigid cultural conformity they uphold. |
| Quote: | | N.B. The death penalty is practised in all seriously authoritarian states. In Eastern Europe it was abolished with the fall of communism and adoption of democracy. The United States is the only western democracy where capital punishment is still practised |
Now I know what 3 questions move to the center.... |
