Its because rather than just blindly following one "God" or a few or even several gods, we consider all gods to be utter nonsense. And because we consider them nonsense and consider truth important and understand that just because something comforts you it doesn't make it true, we like to seek for truth and to also understand what isn't true but what is nonsense, and what is untruth.
Also religion and "Faith" can do a lot of harm in the world. Delusion is not just untrue it can often do a lot of harm - I mean however small that harm is and whether that harm however small, is just to oneself or if it harms others too, through influence or otherwise.
Obviously I can't speak for all of us atheists, this is just what I think.
