It's a strange phenomenon really. You would think that an atheist community would be talking about all kinds of different subjects other than God, Jesus, religion, or the Bible. But I've found that it's exactly the opposite. In fact every topic has a religious subject title or in the few instances where it's not, the replies within take on a religious tone. Oh, it's mostly bashing, mocking, snickering, and other such emotional outbursts. But still, the discussion never strays very far from the primary focus; God.

Atheists seem to be obsessed with God. They can't seem to stop talking about Him. Even in their ridicule and bitterness they seem to be reassuring one another that their mantra has been validated and God thusly shooed away. Even a science post about a new discovery prompts replies about Creationists or Genesis; why Jesus didn't mention it or how the believers will react. An atheist forum doesn't seem complete without special sections for General Religion, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Other Religions. Atheists are obsessed with God.

Why is that?

Danny

Answer is quite simple.

I don't like to talk about it, it's boring and I already know who my 10 year counterpart who gave up on ye old fuck God along with the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy, and dental care in general.
Plus this is a sub-forum dedicated to religion. They talk about religion in a religion forum, doy!

The reason I am SO interested in this GOD business is because The state and condition of this world!
Religion Is the ultimate evil.. According to me!
I shouldnt even have to point it out to you!
My one desire is that the "bible" everyone followed had one quote!
Treat others how you Would want to be treated.
unless of course you want your booby chopped off for not converting.

Or if you want your child to be alienated at school because his family has different beliefs then the majority. (leave my child alone you crazy christian hags!)

Nevermind it not being locked yet... what cracks me up is that it was started in the first place. Any american who thinks it's atheists who are obsessed with god, needs to take a good fucking look around the streets he/she lives in. Chances are they can't toss up a stick without it landing on a church.

I do not think I am obsessed about God, though I am obsessed about how big-bang began or how RNA developed into DNA. These things do not involve any God.

Selection bias. Atheism is the lack of belief in gods/active disbelief in gods, so aside from that there isn't that much to talk about.

Sure, you could go into biology, cosmology, various philosophies of ethics and morality and purpose. But those are fields that are of a fairly wide scope.

One thing that most atheists have in common is 1) they are unconvinced by flawed religious or biblical arguments and 2) they're usually seen as baby-eating sociopaths because they don't buy these arguments. So talking about the reasons why religion (and, in the English-speaking parts of the world and web, Christianity) is not compelling and to generally vent.

Then again, most likely the OP is a troll who's implying the tired "atheists really believe in God they are just trying very hard to deny it but in their hearts they know it's true" argument, so perhaps responding isn't my best judgment.

you would think new posters to these forums would realise that after 140 pages it would be impossible for this thread still be on the rails
