Its not exactly a current event, but, CNN did a story on it, simply because of some similarity to a recent crash survivor. I hadn't heard this story before, amazing story:

Of note:

Code:

Koepcke says she is not a spiritual person and has tried to find logical explanations for why she survived.

"Maybe it was the fact that I was still attached to a whole row of seats," she says. "It was rotating much like the helicopter and that might have slowed the fall. Also, the place I landed had very thick foliage and that might have lessened the impact."

Story states she was the only survivor. Don't know if the body of the mother was found.

Damn. Thats pretty hardcore... helicopter seats, huh... maybe thats what the air line industries need to invest in...

Reminds me of those Argentinians who crashed in the Andies, and ended up going Cannibal... were up in the mountains for a good time, like month or so I think... maybe more...

Why she survived? She just did.

I like that she states she is not a spiritual person. Thank Hank someone finally isnt praising Jesus in the midst of terrible carnage.

Nothing makes me angrier than people like those jerkoffs who got out of the Towers on 9/11 and then, standing knee deep in rubble and the mangled bodies of their freshly dead co-workers, immediately began mouthing off about how it was a miracle straight from El Hebrew Primo himself. For these other poor fuckers...not so much.

Glad to see someone not insult the dead by insinuating that god liked me better than you.

FE you can't insult the dead!!! I bet you knew that Wink

Those who survive any amazing event get to own their reactions to why they did. It shouldn't hurt you at all and their thinking god loves them more is your words not theirs.

The lastest survivor, people do see it as a miracle also. Whatever that means, it all comes to amazing whether there is or isn't a god.

I've survived incidents that others haven't and it just opens up a state of consciousness that doesn't normally get tapped. So to judge those who are in a state of shock for praising god or condemning god is foolish. Words are just words when in shock and only the person can tell you actually what they meant.

Just as your words of "insult the dead" is not indicative of your overall intelligence, don't get your shorts in a wad over some words that you have no right to own?

Terrific story, Caseagainstfaith, thanks.

I followed up in Wiki on her and her parents and that is fascinating read too because of their contributions to science.

I remember briefly a headlline from the past where there was a survivor and there have been a few others. This particular story though is probably the one because of the 2 mile reference. It is also eery in as much as the injuries are quite similar to this most recent survivor such as the collarbone.

Wow. This was a stupid comment even for you. You know damn well what "insult the dead" means. They leave behind friends and loved ones who have to listen to religious nuts and woo-woo maniacs spew their inane bullshit implying that their family member was not as worthy of SuperHebrew's protection as they are. It is an insult, perhaps not to the moldering corpse specifically, but to his/her memory and to the grief of his/her family it damn well is.

And any assessment of my overall intelligence coming from you will be taken with several grains of salt, be sure of that. Thanks though.
