Hi Chrissy.
I don't know who removed that part of your post but I think I can shed some light as to why.
The Love Shack was created to be to super-nicey-nice place of AF and so vulgar, or otherwise offensive content, might be removed, regardless of whether it was meant to offend or not.
To be fair, I too think you should have been notified via PM about this.

Come on, that was below the belt.
Two weeks haven't passed since the Love Shack was called a pathetic and intentionally half-assed attempt at moderation, and an attempt at making it look like we have done something about the problem, when in actual fact we have done fuck all, and you're already calling us power hungry?
Yeah, I know you weren't the one who had the initial objections, but all I'm asking is for some understanding. What the hell are we supposed to do if on one hand we're being accused of doing too little, and on the other of doing too much? |

Well, the cynic and idealist in me are in a constant wrestling match. But I'm digressing...I don't believe human social development is limited by biological evolution. Humans are very complex creatures, and extremely adaptable. While other apes do not stray from one model of social order, humans have proven their ability to survive and thrive under many different social models. Furthermore, the fact we possess technology allows us to socially evolve beyond the limitations of natural selection-- it allows us to escape the restrictions of our natural surroundings and to develop faster than other species. It also helps correct the problem of scarcity of resources. Most human conflicts since the dawn of civilization have been over resources-- land, food, minerals, access to the sea, etc. That's not to say there is not some natural violence inherent in our species-- there definitely is. But I think history shows that in conditions of material abundance, most people would prefer to live peaceably.
This is where I think socialism comes in, in terms of advancing our social development. With the technology we now possess, it should be possible to eliminate food shortages and other scarcity of resources. With the proper political and economic structure globally, it would be entirely possible for all people to have more or less equal access to the resources that would enable them to live comfortably. Abolition of the nation-state system, a democratic political model, and a socialist economic model should greatly reduce conflict. This is not to say socialism would completely do away with conflicts, crime and social neuroses. Certainly there will always be conflicts and there will always be some portion of the population that is incredibly greedy, self-centered and violent, but common ownership and democratic, collective distribution of raw resources and manufactured products, along with a decrease in material disparities, would certainly go a long, long way towards reducing violence and oppression. I think our political and economic structures are lagging behind our technology and it's time to catch up.

Most of the time that's a charge levelled by the defenders of capitalism against the socialists; ironically enough in this circumstance it's being used against the defenders of capitalism, which does give me reason to smile.
